Just added up all of the same parts via getbmwparts.com for the M2. Their price w/o shipping was $3,127.55. A difference of $1,972.45. Does not factor installation, but think you get the drift...

Eh, I'm gunning for a F8x and I rather just get the M-perf exhaust and purchase the replica parts for a fraction of the price. Especially the rear diffuser since it supposedly interferes with the trunk kick open trick. Correct me if I'm wrong if they ever fixed that.

Side note: Does anyone know why they don't just list all of the extra parts on their configurator? I don't understand why only some or none of the extra parts listed.

So if you take on these option packages after the car was delivered then installed by BMW, does it get added onto the original MSRP to drive up the resale value on the Carfax when it's time to sell the car? : P

Does it add more value for a trade-in? People can assume it's not OEM as it wasn't part of the original factory selected options according to bmwvin.com. If no receipt is kept the value will no go up.

*Stickers not actually cosmetic. BMW AG tests have confirmed up to 20 horsepower increase with affixed stickers. Professional driver on closed course. Do not attempt.
Actually the cosmetic thing can be considered performance too because the amount of good looks from the upgrades drives up the "head turn" statistical performance.

Absolute rip-off. Looked at the F30 options and they're ridiculous. Not a chance I'd spend this money on some bolt on parts!

I got a quote for the rear diffuser on my F31 and it came out at 650eur (743USD)!!!

I just bought one on eBay (replica), for £120 (160USD) including postage. It's a piece of sodding plastic FFS!

If I were buying carbon parts, I'd at least say it has some substance but it's just cheap ABS plastic FFS.

While I love BMW and I'm a huge fan, this does take the piss.

Its been well documented that any real CF diffuser will disable rear kick option. Reason is CF interferes with the signal. This is not a BMW only issue although I argue that they could have designed the location of the sensor a little better. Someone here was able to relocate the sensor to get it working again. Any diffuser made from quality CF will have the same problem.

As for why not list all parts... my guess is it has to do with availability since these are locally sourced by VDCs. Parts are not always available and when I ordered my car, I had to call BMW NA to source the parts myself since my CA was not willing to do the work. This offering simply means they have ramped up production of these parts and are bundling them for a discount which BTW, nobody has said you have to pay list even in a bundle. This is a good thing for those looking for these anyway.

Only parts added at port will appear on Monroney Sticker. Parts installed after delivery by dealer do not. Either way you will prob not realize a significant bump in resale value thru pricing services because most don't factor these types of "accessories". You will however, have better resale when dealing in private and especially with fellow enthusiasts that know what they are getting and how parts were installed.

When installed at the VPC the parts become "part of the car" and are listed on the windows sticker.

That is an amazing price? How did you get that? When I went on their site I got the following, but did not see the exhaust and kidney grilles available.

Here is what I was quoted
- 4x CF Tips $1,100
- CF spoiler $500 with the Beta Link

After some research seems the exhaust could be priced at $2,200 and the kidney grilles at $240. This put me over $4,000 not including tax, shipping and installation.

I got my kidney grilles and side gills for less than $240 CDN.

Some of these prices are outrageous

My bad, I didn't notice the CF tips were priced for each. Also, no need to get the M2 grilles. You can get the gloss black grilles for the 2-series and just swap out the black bezel with the ones already on the car for half the price. There are a few members that have done this and posted on it. Even factoring in the CF tips it's still over $1k less than the package deal (w/o shipping or installation).

Even better is that these bundles make it idiot proof to have these added to your build. Take it from someone who recently had to work hard to have these PIA'd. This is a good thing and almost guarantees your CA will not screw up your order or deny parts can be added.
Is it still true that you can't do any PIA (and thus residualized M perf accessories) with ED?

Unfortunately, that is and will probably always be the case since your contract starts and you officially take "ownership" when you sign (before you do ED).

It's funny, my dad picked up a 488 GTB yesterday that had literally all the boxes checked.

I was running down some of them, and I came across a comparable one.

M Performance CF Diffuser BMW: $1,1000
Ferrari 488 GTB CF Diffuser: $9,600

For a car that costs 3-6x our BMWs (all the extras added almost $90k in options), I'd say the price of our CF parts is relative (or even a discount (haha even I don't believe that)) to the price.

I see.

I was just thinking also about insurance and banks considered value. That stuff will matter when you get hit. It would be sad to stick $7000 worth of OEM options after the car was bought for it to be lost in an accident and not reimbursed because you decided to option a car from the floor or decided to order and install it after it has been delivered!!

Also curious as to would the parts drive up the insurance price because the car would cost more to insure.
