Buying an M car is as much about status as it is about performance, if not more.
Look at how many AMGs Mercedes puts out, and what they charge for them. There will always be a market for powerful, expensive factory cars. |

no but Tii's would be a more Track oriented car....///M seems to be drifting away from that and following AMG's philosophy of Power/Sport/Luxury....Tii's philosophy= Performance.

I'm wondering if the Tii model will be the equivalent to a GT3 RS compared to the //M if it were a standard GT3.

Turbo has the power and luxury, but GT3 is lighter, NA, and more agile. Now BMW is on a weight loss plan, is the latest M3 the porkiest we will ever see? |

OKay, am I missing something? If the #tii has the brakes from the M, 19s and a Dual clutch, other than an LSD what will be the point of an M3 Seriously, you will have a 335i nicely eqipped for 46k, tii for 51kk, and M3 for 56? WTF

As I stated earlier in the thread, these will be an accessory line like JCW was initially, later in the model cycle they will be factory installed.
Here is an update on the info: http://www.bimmerfile.com/2008/04/03...-the-1-series/

Sounds like the 335tii will be the new "ZHP" model...
SWEET!

My guess is that the tii badge and cosmetics/power hike are an answer to Audi's S version. The one area where the 335i lacked compared to the S5 was in the looks department, the tii if it closely mimics the tii concept will be a eye-ball feast.
Another thing, it will not be competing with the M3, the two cars drive totally different, regardless if with a bit of dosh you can get them to perform similarly. With the exception of the gearbox, doors and front/rear lights the M3 uses nothing else from the 335i, with so much being different it's dam near impossible to expect them to drive the same. The 335i is good, the 335tii will be better but neither is a patch on the M3. |

I don't think BMW feels the need to "answer" any Audi versions. I think the 335i Coupe looks better than the S5 myself...

[QUOTE=Pimp Star;2415073]Tii is different from ///M.
Tii = Light weight, more handling-based ///M = Power, balance, power.... Not to say that an M3 cannot handle, but, it uses brute force to keep up with the C63 AMG. [/[/B]QUOTE] where have you been? watch any comparisson video and you will find the exact opposite. C63 wins on a drag strip. M3 wins on the track. |

They don't put //M badges on the backs of the cars though. That's what I don't like about AMG sport pacakages.

I was just giving an opinion based on what I felt, I personally rate the 335i a good car only minus the looks of some others, namely the S5. There is nothing wrong with the based design, it's only missing some sporty features that make the M3, S5 and C63 stand out among the crowd.

You're absolutely right Footie. I think they just need the M-Sport kit tbh. The sedan's rear improves by like 500% with the bumper and spoiler.
The coupe's front end and side sills help its front 3/4 a lot too.

Nice to see that here (and in Car), although the first part is basically a translation of an earlier article in Germany's Autobild magazine. Kinda nice to finally read it in english for a change.
Sounds like a sports package for the 1 and 3 series like the earlier three series had. It is a little misleading taking a German magazine's article and implying we may see this in the US (or england). We won't see the 3 seriese update until the fall (while Germany apparently will see it in the summer). Who knows if/when we will see the performance models. BMW DE has a lot of performance models that we never see in the US. |

BMW Will Revive tii Badge for 1- and 3-series
Interesting insight about what BMW will be doing in the future.
