Why? I have a better interest rate than you by more than half(0.9) plus I bought my M4 for WAY behind invoice and it's a 2017. I will be in a much better position than if I had leased or even bought a used one.

Maybe you should never finance a new Porsche because of shitty rates but even their leases suck if you go over their stupid ass lease cap.

Agree. With a 0.9 rate it does not make sense to pay cash. Invest on the market and make 5 to 10% annually instead! Or more (record close on the Dow today)

That's because that is the program this month. They typically change monthly and BMW bumped it back to 2.99 this month. Many are thinking it will go back to 0.9 for December

Got mine last December at 0.9.
Definitely got a better use with my money in the mean time since then!

I think the point was that buying new was foolish because of the initial depreciation hit. If you can buy smart though like you did, new is a good deal. Here in TX where we have to pay tax on the entire purchase price of the car if you lease, it's dumb to do that unless you can write it off as a business expense. If you are going to buy new, I agree that financing for low interest rates is better than paying cash.
As far as the rates go, it's tough to get under 1% on used vehicles.

Regardless of the car I would only lease new or buy used. Buying or financing new just seems like a colossal waste of money.

The thing I'd look for is if the car your buying has a warranty. So either buy new or CPO. I learned my lesson on my 2006 M6 I bought out of warranty and ended up sinking close to $10k into it over 3 years to maintain it. Many people can afford these cars but have no idea what it takes to maintain them as they age.

I am just curious as I would love to have one of these cars, but can't afford the new sticker price and the fact that they say these are high maintenance used cars after 50,000 miles.

Do most of you work on your cars, how do you use them as a weekend car or as a DD?

As much as I love these powerful cars, I don't want to get into something that needs to be constantly brought to the shop.
this guy could be a multi millionaire for all we know. any bro could go lease ( which most people on here do- not saying you can or can't afford it) a m3/ m4. With new car leases and low financing, they are basically designed to get people into cars they can't afford.

that being said, you should think about what YOU want to use the car for, instead of just asking us what we use it for. Do you live in an urban area with not much parking and mostly driving for personal use? if so lease a new one and use it as your car. do you live in a rural area where you have a garage, plenty of space, but commute 100 miles a day? then probably get a used one, and keep a DD/ Beater- it's your call.

This makes me believe he isn't a multi millionaire and can afford new -

I agree with the rest. I bought my M as a weekend car putting about 2k miles a year on it. These miles a year would have been massively expensive per mile if I was paying new car depreciation. Instead I am losing roughly $1k a year on depreciation, roughly $550 a year in insurance, a couple of hundred per year on maintenance, and I have never repaired anything in the 3.5 years I have owned it.

I've always bought my cars 1-3 years old with very low miles to avoid the depreciation loss. My Z4M was used, but I bought it from a well known BMW M-dealer and it had full paperwork and service history so I felt confident that the car would be fine, and it is. Literally the only maintenance I've had to do was an oil change and it was an early one since the car doesn't get driven that much.

Some AMG models are more reliable than others. There are a lot of variables that determine if a car will be easy on the wallet or not. The biggest one is whether or not the car was well maintained and if there are known issues with that model year. The only AMG car that I'd buy used and out of warranty would be a well-maintained C63 AMG (2012-2014). I believe they fixed the head-bold issues after 2011 and the car avoids the Air-Matic suspension which tends to be problematic later on.
