[QUOTE=Ethirtynine]In my opinion it sounds a bit much buying a Cayman S (or even a new car for that matter). She's only 18 and just starting college! If her dream was to travel somewhere then I can understand if you wanted to take her there. But for a dream car? She has her whole life.

Also, 15 months really isn't that long. I'm surprised you would even consider buying a new car for a girlfriend. If she was your fiance or wife, that'd be a different story. I don't know what your situation is though, but in my opinion either you're trying just a little too hard, or she's got you sprung.[/QUOTE

Yeah I TOTALLY agree with you. I mean, HEY I'd love to get a gift like that, but I think it's rather inappropriate. I don't know, it's just a really big gift and I don't think it fits.

Just make sure it's in your name. A friend of mine had her boyfriend co-sign on a car for her and they ended up breaking up and she got a restraining order on him and he got screwed and ended up paying for a good part of her car and she still drives it. Not saying your girl is a bitch, but just don't be stupid.

I agree, put the car in your name. When i got my E90 my boyfriend was gonna pay 1/2 of my monthly payments. (He was doing it to repay my dad back for helping him out). Well, we broke up badly and now they payments are all on me. I also agree that 15 months isnt a very long time. I say wait until you guys are engaged to get a huge gift like that. Or when she graduates college. Because think about it, from now on, all the other gifts you get her will never top the porsche. Start slow..

my parents havent bought me anything since i was 12, up untill about last january, when i got rid of my 330Ci my mom drove a POS hyundai cause my rent never had money. While i was getting into a new MINI cooper S, i helped out in getting my mom a used mercedes c240, i put 5K down on it and sometimes paid the payments. Then later we paid the car off completely by Sept. 05, in november i saw the e90 and wanted one. so i asked my mom if she was going to get one. So we went to the dealer and we both got one.

ha I'm only 20 not a big difference. My money and her money is "our" money. We share everything. We are bascially are ingaged just without the name. How long we have been together doesn't mean anything its just a date, but the relationship we have is different. Its not a ordinary relationship. When you know the feeling of love then your insight on things change. Her mini she has was bought brand new by the both of us. Everything we have is not mine or hers it is ours. also about worrying about breaking up, we dont worry about that. we know whats forever

The porsche cayman would be ours on her name. we aren't ingaged but people can say we are both our names because of insurance, would be cheaper on her, no tickets and female drive. me + tickets + points + male = sky high insurance.. i use my mom to be registered on her insurance and only pay 1800 $ a year . NJ insurance is rediculaoius, i got quoted 5500 for 6 months, fuck that

This is the most insane thread I have ever read. I doubt you will listen, but for about 10 different reasons you should not get her a Porsche.

a) you will probably break up given how young you are
b) no 18 year old needs a new porsche
c) she is going to college and does not even need a car that badly
d) you will be setting a high standard for gifts in the future
e) you should invest that money instead of blowing it on a porsche that will likely be in an accident at some point or another (see lindsay lohan, sl65)

Having a real tough time believing this thread. It just seems waay too weird to be true. If you own a business as you say, you should know the importance of good accounting, especially if you apparently making bucks and reinvesting, playing landlord, floating additional loans... It would borderline in illegal for not keeping records, especially for tax purposes.

Nobody who makes cash like the kind you are talking about (enough to buy new bmws and porsches at a whim) would operate with shared bank accounts with 18 y.o. girlfriends.

If this story is only even remotely true.. that's plain messed up.

Oh, and I'll take a stripper Caymen.
