When I eventually get around to "deep cleaning" the alcantara, I'll do it like my suede shoes and boots. With Saphir's suede shampoo, lots of brushing with a boar bristle brush to revitalize the nap, and a fresh coating of protectant spray. |

It's nearly impossible to find driving gloves that aren't douchey. The idea of driving a vehicle with gloves on when you're not at the track is...interesting.

You speak the truth about the gloves though.... It's like the old bicycle-shorts saying where you look like a fool wearing them unless you're arms-reach away from a bicycle. Keep it to the track or have the explanations ready.

Driving gloves that aren't douchey?
Unless you're actually wearing a nomex suit and in a racing car they are all "douchey".......or Raul Julia in Gumball Ralley.
Just my two cents. |

Since my M Sport steering wheel is looking haggard, I was thinking of replacing it with an alcantara one. Does anyone have a photo of a what an alcantara steering wheel looks like after 2-3 years of usage?
Used by a normal person, by the way. Not one that wears gloves, lol. |

I don't think there are driving gloves that aren't douchey.
Just stay away from those //M ones like the plague. You could get these so everyone knows you're wearing them:

I have, and wear a pair of BMW driving gloves mostly in the winter. I feel douchey but don't really care. Keeps my wheel clean and feels great. At this point I feel naked not wearing them while driving. I will get some weird looks but that is what my middle finger is for.

I ride horses (English). I buy gloves at my locate saddlery and they look pretty good. I used to use some of those gloves when I had my convertibles on days when it was cold and clear.

Dunhill makes - or at least used to make - excellent driving gloves.

I've also bought driving gloves for the same reason as OP exo-shell
Alcantara on steering wheels wears pretty quickly, especially if someone (me) has got sweaty palms (knees weak, arms heavy, mom's spaghetti). I had to clean the steering wheel every two or three weeks and the car is not even a DD. In the pics below, the steering wheel has not been cleaned in like half a year; it's not as fresh and fuzzy as when freshly cleaned, but still miles better than if I did not wear gloves most of the time. Dents, Autodromo, Piloti have some classic-looking gloves that don't look douchey at all, IMO. Or here, for inspiration. Although, I have yet to find classic-style gloves that have the palms covered in suede which would be perfect for Alcantara steering wheels to maximize grip. In my humble opinion, leather driving gloves can nicely complement a formal/smart/business casual outfit, too. Which is why I went for likely the douchebag option, the BMW ///M gloves... Two more M logos for the poor non-M BMW. Adds 10 hp and 5 street cred. Also probably why I am single. Ran to the garage and tried to take the most pretentious photos as well, lol. They're very comfy, though. Got my father the second type BMW sell, but they don't fit my hands at all.

This thread reminded me of a lady driving a minivan with a yellow rubber kitchen glove on and a cigarette clamped in it. Guess she really didn't want her hubby to smell that she'd been smoking.
