I really like my 335i, but I test drove the previous version CTS-V and would rate it as very comparable in performance and driving fun. Like the 335i, the CTS-V handles and communicates the road very well. I had a blast driving it around some roundabouts near the dealership. It's a little bigger too, but I liked having a smaller car plus the outstanding automatic on the BMW. Cadillac, like BMW, has put in a lot of track time on the CTS-V. I think they're both great cars.

I've only driven the 304HP version without the FE-3 suspension, and although I am sure the CTS-V is awesome, this is a Cadillac, and is skewed toward luxury. IMO it is a beautifully designed car. The huge sunroof is great, and the slick cockpit and "Dr. Evil" pop-up touch screen are impressive, but coming out of my 330 I felt disconnected from the road. Exiting the dealer lot for the test drive I made a quick right, accellerating from a stop. The steering just felt confused at that action, and that is where the CTS lost me. The rest of the drive I felt like I was driving a Buick.

I'm considering spending a bit more on the next car. Amazing the choices in sport sedans now, with the C63, M3, IS-F, and now the CTS-V all with tremendous engines. I'm looking forward to the test drives.

Call it how YOU see it, but that POS is faster around the Ring than the M5, has a better interior, will probably get better gas mileage and prolly faster in a straight line also. If that's what a POS is called, then what is the M5 called? A less capable POS?

Oh man, the exhaust from what I can hear is sweet. I love that it sounds like a N/A engine. PS: I feel bad for all the image snobs, 18 year olds using facts from the 80's( you weren't even born then), and the blind fanboys. You're not a true car enthusiast. You can have your favorites, but you have to respect every car out there. Saying a M5 is better then the new CTS-V is blind fanboyism when so far the CTS-V has it beat on everything, but taste. It beats it on the 'Ring, 0-60, etc. How can you guys say the CTS-V is a fat pig and give a pass to the M5? It is right up there in the curb weight against the CTS-V. I may prefer the Z06 to the GT-R, but doesn't mean the GT-R isn't a beast and is a POS. It doesn't suit my taste. Simple as that. The same when it comes to M cars. They're great cars. The V8 and V10 are amazing engines. But, they do lack one critical component in performance: TORQUE. Right now I would say the CTS-V and maybe arguably the IS-F seem to be the only vehicles able to match M cars. Your reaction is proof of that. Your favorite car is threatened so you people spew out shit about it. No disrespect for the C63 AMG. It is a beast. But, reviews have shown it only shines in the straight line. In the corner, it just falls apart and the M3 can break away. |
