I owned an 04 350z for 4 years and I loved it (being my first car and all). It had great acceleration and had great handling but after driving the 350z for 4 years and then test driving the 335i I have to say the 335i is much faster and better handling. I could see 10 CLs if the 350z missed a shift. I could see 4-6 CLs if he didn't. But to the people saying the interior sucked on the 350z...it sure did...very loud inside as well. 335i is so much better.
Also to whoever said the 350z is as fast as the 335i needs to do a bit of research... |

The 350Z's interior may be made up of "cheap" materials... but it's a DRIVER'S interior. It's layout and driver position is better than ANY BMW (maybe on par with the M-Coupe if anything). To me the 335i is a totally different animal, so I know I'm gaining a lot with it, but I'm also sacrificing some as well. (Especially the clutch, shifter, and cockpit style layout of the Z.)

i have a jb2h, it is possible he missed a shift though, all i know is when i looked back he was very very behind. now that i think about it i forgot to turn on dtc so i was a little loose in the back up to 30, but after that it was game over. i wonder what a 370 would have done to this guys ego.

Z's are quick and I'm sure he mis-shifted, but still our cars are moderately faster....I on the other hand might just beat one barely - E93 :-/ 400lbs extra

z is a gud car.
but a moron driving it can make it a bad one anyday its kinda lame to make a 2 seater heavy. i like the s2000 better. though 4 cylinder it can beat a 350 on the track. |

i think we should stop comparing the 350z and the 335i. The 350 is out of the 335's league

And don't get me started on the shitty buttons... the window controls are way too far forward on the door panel. The stereo buttons with little dashes instead of numbers is retarded. (It looks cleaner but it's annoying to navigate while driving.) Oh, and the cup holders SUCK! (I know Americans have a thing about cup holders, but they could have put something better into the center console, or come up with something better or more sturdy than that POS that comes out in front of the passenger. Don't get me wrong... I can live with several of these quirks, b/c the 335i is a superior car overall. But a driver's car should be set up as a cockpit. Most sports cars and "driver's cars" will have a lot more in common with the 350Z's driver position than the 3 series.

I raced against my own G35 which pulls 1/2 a car length on a 350Z with my 335i (top down) rolling start I only pulled around 3 CL.

the 2007 had the VQ redesigned and is cranking 306HP... The Z is a fun car...never liked the S2k (maybe because i am 6'2 and my brother is 6'4). My brother has a 08 350Z and i sometimes take it to work with me. They improved the interior for 2005+ Z but it still needs work. We picked up an Enthus model for 27k which had traction control, LSD, auto dimming, side airbags, track timer, etc for all under 30K. Few things i like about the car is the rev warning which one would only see in an M3 and the short shifter for the manual. However, I like my E92 335i better. |

I love all these people that come here to tell us that the new 350z's trap 107mph blah blah blah....
Just because a couple of people trapped a certain mph or whatever doesn't mean shit. I need AVERAGES. At my track they only trap 104 mph is the max I've seen. Everything is relative and certainly not the same all over the US. Tracks, weather, location, drivers etc can be all different. The pre-07 models are all running on average 13.8 @ 102 mph or worse. And for a car that weights 300lbs+ less than a 335, i'm sorry but thats not impressive at all.
