He's had comments disabled in his videos for quite some time, well before the fire happened.

I didnt know you would need to trickle charge the car every day, otherwise youd have to take apart the whole assembly to access just the battery

these big corps they dont like that unless you are bootlicking them 24/7 and dumping tons of ca$h into their cars every couple years, other youtubers are good and nice, but some of it is a lil too formal, and good info no doubt,

but you also want it raw too...

it wouldve been nice to see the progression of this senna, shame

Not sure if anyone has seen this video. But he seems like a decent guy:

And I did watch Salomondrin's comparison of their Senna delivery versus Schmee's. If I had just watched Schmee's video, I don't know if I could have gotten through even a couple of minutes. The dude just annoys me for some reason. The only way I was able to get through his video was with Salomondrin's commentary.

Schmee annoys me too. The same can be said about Salomondrin... but he comes off as more genuine. Even if he does live next to the Kardashians. lol

Today Salomandrin dropped another Senna video... nothing really new. I guess he can't have that many more videos left in the "can" before the fire. ?

Couldn't agree more, I can't watch the Schmee videos regardless because once you see the constant spitting....you can't unsee it.

Met Schmee at the Nurburgring once. He wasn't very talkative but we exchanged a few sentences. He was pretty quiet and reserved. He is not the same person off camera. But yeah, he is a annoying on camera.

I find him more genuine than Salmondrin. He actually does a lot of research and likes his cars. Salmondrin is just non stop clickbait... and I can't stand him screaming at the camera like he's excited about every little thing.

christ youtube has finally been taken over by a bunch of click-bait fucktards. How the actual fuck does a car incinerate to that degree. Its happens but come-on now. You first move wouldnt be to film it in a 4k camera with script, and post it with such a bait title. Con artists at their best, slandering mclarens name. Anyone will believe anything nowadays. I could go light my m3 on fire in my driveway; and call everyone single news outlet....BMW INCINERATED ON CUSTOMERS DRIVEWAY...BARELY SURVIVED. I am really considering distancing myself from the internet. Its become wikipedia without editors.

If anyone is interested, here's a page dedicated to this situation:

https://salomondrin.com/post/4681

Salomondrin has been active about replying to some of the posts there along with putting up answers to FAQs about this situation.

Why?

Have you been through a vehicle fire? I have and can understand how it can F' with your head. In my case it was of my own doing as it was a nitrous mishap on a past project car. And I was fortunate someone nearby had a fire extinguisher to put out the fire before it got way out of hand.

In this case, I would also wonder and be affected by if any of my other super/hyper cars would catch on fire. If you are constantly driving in fear and not enjoying the car, why keep it?

I'm not passing judgement one way or another. But again having been through a vehicle fire myself, I can understand a little behind what is going through his head especially with a bone stock car.

wouldn't be surprised if most of this crap is manufactured for the sake of views.

Thinking about these hypercars that have to deliver ever-increasing amounts of fuel into cylinders, it's not very surprising that we are seeing this with various different makes and models. Take a 200hp car and a 1000hp car, that 1000hp has to run massive pressure and fuel lines to deliver all that fuel into the cylinders at the rate necessary. It's similar to how you are not necessarily going to have a "safer" car with electrons, you are still storing energy and if the battery is compromised, a fire, just like a fuel fire, can ensue. With the petrol cars, a fitting coming off or failing is going to mean so much damn fuel coming out due to these crazy high HP engines that it's going to go bad real fast. Again, not very surprising. I wonder what kind of fail-safes they have if any, to shut off fuel flow.

i bet you its the "electric" running part of the car, that is cause of the fire

btw, the triggered responses in this thread are very entertaining

Sell all your cars "in fear" because of the Senna, sue McLaren, laugh all the way to the bank....

Actually it's worse than that depending on the battery. A long time ago I was working for a company where one of the engineers got a grant to test hydrogen emissions from electric vehicles and to see in a home setting how high hydrogen levels can get during a charge cycle. We had this Ford Econoline van which had at on of batteries. The thing weighed about 4 tons unloaded. I drove the thing around till the batteries were near empty. Took it to the research house (it was an actual house in a real neighborhood). Pulled the van into the garage and then closed the door/sealed up the door. Started the charge cycle and then monitored the hydrogen levels. The van didn't even get to a 1/4 of the way through the charge cycle before we had to terminate the test due to the hydrogen levels approaching the lower explosive limit.

There are other ways to fake a claim other than risking an additional felony charge for arson.

And if this has been faked with the amount of publicity this has been given, you would think McLaren would be all over investigating the cause of the car to come up with a quick public denial of any engineering fault or defect.

No particular reason it has to be, again, cars with massively powerful fuel pumps and lines force-feeding engines and there are undoubtedly going to be some fuel/fire hazards.
