Just worried about the queues that'll be at the dealer when this thing launches.

Looks like the whole design team took a vacation and left the interns in charge. :

It’s i8 roots are definitely visible. However, this one has an electric motor both in back and in front, rather than just in front like the i8.

With 600hp this has potential, but it almost surely weighs more than the i8 too.

It has potential.. Love the little throw backs to the M1. Interior is stunning, front is meannn. Let's see what the production model looks like.. But, could be something special..

Can we see the car without the ugly orange all over the car? I can't even tell if it's a good design. That orange is way too loud. I hope that doesn't end up on the production model.

Like I said in the teaser thread, I love the OG M1, but we don't need another umpteenth concept that's basically a modernized version of it. You could already tell how the car was going to look before the official launch of the concept.

I don't know, this is just stale to me. Hell, the production i8 still looks more modern than this concept, IMO.

BMW makes the i8, and everyone whines that it does not have an M version. Fast forward, BMW releases a *concept* M version of the i8, and people whine that it doesn't look as good as they want or doesn't stick to tradition enough.

Why can't we just be happy that BMW still cares about driving dynamics in a future world, be happy that they are committed to carrying on with the M philosophy, and see what they come up with before complaining so much?

So you're saying we as customers who make BMW the largest luxury auto maker in the world should keep quiet when we are not happy with the design, and just "be happy" with whatever they present to us?

This thing is a joke!

Plenty of production Supercars that look more exotic than this “concept”
BMW surely u can do better and be more creative.....

BTW whoever asked for a 4cyl Supercar that will cost $200k? Nobody me thinks.

I'm trying hard not to comment i8 LCI or re-skin...but it looks proportionally really similar.

Also fair play to BMW though, that i8 chassis has huge investment so why not. Everyone was clamouring for a higher output halo i8.....and here it is hopefully coming.

Great news BMW, make it so!

Meanwhile, Porsche announces their GT cars won't go electric.

https://www.thedrive.com/news/28628/...rand-boss-says

Time to jump ship to Porsche.

Also Lamborghini said they'll be producing the V10 and V12 for some time to come. No plans for electric.

I've driven electric, it's fun, but they have no soul. I doubt this M Next will have any soul unless they pipe it in through the speakers. Shame what happening to the driving experience.

Looks a bit like the M1 / M1 hommage.

Not my cup of tea

Wow, took them three decades to make up their minds about the future of M the successor to M1and this is what they come up with.
Nothing about the design is futuristic or even remotely BMW. If it weren't for the kidneys I wouldn't even recognise it.

As for the tech, there are interesting features such as the AR head-up display.
Nothing exciting about the 4-cyl...
Not excited

Interesting design

This may be an idea for M1 replacement, since bmw doesn't have a supercar to compete with merc amg GT and similar
