It's really a nice car in every way for me. ONLY problem... why in the world did they get rid of the A/C seats? I don't want the damn headlamp washers that leave water marks on my car, I want the A/C seats!!!

for 61k, IS-F has so many amenities! My friend just got one and man......looks aggressive as hell! but again, I'd get the M3 coupe hands down or the C63...

IS-F is not a first year Toyota performance car. Did you guys forget about the Supra? They know what they are doing and they hit pretty close to the mark.

lol. Crap-mobile. That's funny.
One more thing. How many M3's have you seen and how many IS-F's have you seen. I'm in LA and there are at least 10 M3's to every 1 IS at least. And 335's, don't even get me started. It will feel nice to drive something different for a change. aaron

Oh God, did you see the F in person?? It seriously looks like an IS with rice. The exhaust just killed it for me the most.. (I liked the way those dual exhausts connected with each other on the concept though)
+1 on C63.. brand new model, brand new engine, and it's not a Lexus ![]()

I personally like M3 more than C63 AMG and IS-F. I like the fact that M3 has a 4.0L V8, a relatively small engine and yet has a very high horsepower. I am not impressed with the Benz's 6.2L V8. Yes it has monster torque but come on it is 1/3 bigger than the M3's, it is supposed to be torquey. IS-F is in the middle of those two, a 5.0L V8, and it has a incredible 8 speed tranny. And Lexus tradionally has better reliability in the long run, but I just couldn't justify the 20 thousand extra dollars that it has over IS350. Plus I feel that IS-F's bonnet bulge is wierd looking, unlike the more natural look from the M3's bulge. This is how I think: If you want a C-class or IS, C350/C300 and IS350/IS250 are good enough, but if you really really want a high performance fun to drive sports sedan/coupe, M3 is the way to go. It is the only car that I think is worth $60k. IS-F is a good choice if it costs $49k base, but it is overpriced. C-class is not supposed to have such a huge engine, the old C55 AMG makes more sense. There is one reason I don't like muscle car, they only know how to use bigger engine to be faster, and this C63 AMG is like a German muscle car. Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, and Honda knows how to squeeze horsepower without using too much displacement and forced induction, I like this way better.

if the is-f came with a proper manual transmission, then it would be a no brainer. but i'd take an m3 with stick over a lexus with a slushbox. otherwise, lexus is amazing - the quality, the service, the reliability, the luxury, the torquey v8, the aggressive looks. too bad lexus doesn't want driving enthusiasts to buy their cars, or else they'd allow people to order it with a manual.

Im really not too fond of the IS-F appearance wise, not sure what it is that gets me but its just not all that appealing to me. To me the C63 is a better looking car, or even the RS4 IMO, however, I think from reading lots of the previous posts, many of you here are missing the point of him getting out of the Bimmer and into something else, in this case perhaps a Lexus. The decision really doesnt seem to be based on performance if you read the original post. The criteria seems to be based more product quality, quality service, differentiation, and peace of mind... Not HP, 0-60, Gs, or much else in that way. |

I have tracked, and did a ride-along w/ a professional, the IS-F at the Auto Speedway and it was a solid car. Very compliant on the curbs. The traction control is a plus or minus; he was trying to slide the car out. I don't know if that was to reduce understeer or just for the hell of it. And for track times... who can actually utilize 90-95% of their car anyway? Track times are bogus if the owners aren't even wringing out 70% of the car's potential. |

Well said. One just can't safely and responsibly use all that 400hp under the hood. I would even go out on a limb and say the weakest point in all of the cars mentioned is the driver, not the car. Amusing everyone think they are on the level of pro driver. All that is besides the point, OP wanted a sporty car with reliability and good dealership service. His main criteria is not a balls-out-sports car, which at mortal-hands of everyday driver is merely a status symbol and viagra to the ego.

the ISF is a first year performance car from Toyota, its in its first year lol. its not the first performance car fromToyota though. I owned the ISF, its a great family car that has speed, luxury and comfort. if you're looking for a more sports car feel, i would be looking at the M3, RS4, C63.

The IS-F is fast. But the driving feel is too insulated, hyper-electronic, robo-car for me. If you don't like the M3, and are too impatient for BMW to fix 29.2, why not get a Cayman?

If service is one of your criteria, I would seriously consider the C63. My old C32 had it's fair share of issues but the service was top notch. In fact the service was so good I really didn't mind the number of times it had to go in. I believe they've addressed a number of their reliability issues with the new model so it shouldn't be in the shop as much as my C32.
The IS-F is a nice car as well so good luck with whichever car you choose. |

I dont understand how people say that the M has no tq its tq is very similar to the 335. If you feel you have to downshift just to pass someone are you in 6th doing 20mph when you pass them?
Anyway I digress, if you dont want the M, I would go with the C63 if you want torque, thats one mean machine. I feel the IS-F is devoid of all personality not only in looks (exhaust is horrible), but also in driving feel. Its numb and fast and thats about it. If you want top level service then dont get the C63 or the Audi, stick with Lexus for that. You cant have everything there is no perfect solution.

No cayman. It would be sweet, but we have a new addition to the family coming any day now and excitement with predictability/practicality and reliability will supercede all others.
Staszek, the M3 still has less torque that the 335 and it comes in wayyy later as well. Torque is nice, but not everything. Which is why I'm not going Merc ![]() It's funny, but this is the feedback that I expected. It's exactly what I would've said until I gave the F some serious consideration. I'm not yet getting into how bad BMW screwed me over (you have no idea), but perhaps when this is all over, I will share and you will understand...or...maybe not?? ![]() aaron

Personally I like the IS-F. I just like the power of the C63 more...
I'm old school: I cut my teeth on stormin' Chevy smallblocks and monstrous bigblocks of yore. We're talking put-it-in-fourth-stomp-the-throttle-at-40-mph-and-go-sideways type of shenanigans. Ahhh, those were the days...
