Motortrend insider told me: That is how they always do it, it's not one drag race it's a compilation of drag races that are edited together to look like one race. They see by the times of multiple runs how the order "should" be and they show that. But they are really sloppy in the clips they pick as some don't align with the outcome.

for me the most surprising is how well performs the Supra vs the M2.

the B58 is a beast.

Having owned and modded a Hellcat; they are extremely difficult to launch on summer tires. Even on a drag radial requires careful throttle modulation. But there were all great cars in the video.

I wish M8C would be there instead M850 or M2C

Very impressive result from the 992 given its company with much more horsepower.

Carrera (non S) is the base model and starts at $97,400. The S can easily be had with a few key options for the $125,000 range.

The prices of those other cars are pretty ridiculous too. And Porsche still has markedly better build quality than Merc or BMW. You can see the attention to detail. I'd be happy to own any 911, even a base no option Carrera as long as it had a manual.

Considering the M8 is a good 50-60k more than the C2S in the US but only performs mildly better in the quarter mile (not sure how they compare on the track), I think that's pretty decent pricing for a Porsche.

The M8 starts at $133k and the carerra s starts at $113k so only a $20k difference in base price. And if you know anything about Porsche you know the option list is longggg and expensive and to get it equipped comparably to an M8 you are probably looking at about the same cost in the end.

Got the chance to see a McLaren Senna up close today. Was also driving next to it on the freeway. Really neat car.

I bought the Motortrend app a few years ago to watch "The Greatest Drag Race". Then found out it was staged to finish with numbers obtained from single passes from a prepped drag strip. AWD leaps ahead, then let off the gas to let others catch up per drag strip single pass results. MT even admitted it was staged for safety and problems getting a clean launch with that many cars at one time. They have not commented on last/this years 1/2 mile run. Not sure if it is single staged or actually multiples.

I was comparing the M8C. I assumed that's the one forum members were discussing since everyone neglects the base model of M cars.

The surface doesn't matter. It is a FAKE race.

Probably staged. Which to be honest is probably the better way to do it. I'd want them to really get to wring out each car and then post the results for us. The video is still fun to watch.

If the m2 or m850 won I bet 99% of the people here wouldn't say it was staged.

They should have used an M5c at least if the M8c was not available.

This highlights why people shouldn't put so much stock on recorded times, especially for high powered RWD cars. As in my own F80 6MT, launching "hard" is difficult. Even with some lucky, well applied, clutch/throttle modulation, I found my 60' times to be terrible, even when compared to my previous stock 335xi 6MT. Taking one quality launch and using that time misses the reality of a "drag race".

I think it's a shame that it's just all edited and the times aren't from the "race" that you see, however a m2C vs a Senna? You don't need to see a race to know what's going to happen there.

I much prefer the Carwow races that are actually real and not edited made up nonsense.

It's only a bit of fun after all so just drag them and let us see the results....
