I concur. While I do enjoy the normal Carrera look, the Porsche cars with wings have always felt right with the wing whereas many other cars look askew with them. The Touring is very cool, but I think the winged GT3 is just right.

I would have kept the 458 and not worry about mileage. As the last NA V8 Ferrari- i think they will hold their value well long term.

Congrats in the sale.
I had a 997 a few years back, IMHO, GT3 guys are just as anal with mileage. Not sure if the 991 crowd is different. Try not to listen to Rennlisters too much. Just enjoy the car. The GT3 wont depreciate as fast as your 458. |

458s are pretty reliable. But the thought of something expensive breaking was always in the back of my head. Not a Ferrari fan, but that's a beautiful car. I couldn't live with the mileage anxiety, so hopefully you'll get something next that you can just get in, drive and not worry about.

How can you not be a Ferrari fan? Price and ownership experience is one thing but there’s no doubt that the cars themselves are incredible.

I'll say this ...... hmmmmm... I am not a fan of their boy racer interiors. The dash anyways, basically classless and the cars are all huge, nothing small and nimble. Cannot believe I am saying this but i'd take a 911 before a ferrari assuming I cannot sell either one. The 488 is my favourite though, and by a wide margin.

To clarify, not a mad fan of any exotics. I appreciate the engineering but truth be told, they are unwieldly on the road and at the track, even a basic formula car will smoke em for 30% of the price.
Even the big rear wings etc, i am not crazy about. If I had to absolutely splash out, honestly I would have a nice drop top and a GT3 Touring. |

I’m actually planning to buy a 458 next year, lol. So we’re in opposite places right now. But i do appreciate being able to read your ownership experiences, particularly the maintenance costs.
You’ll love the GT3. I’d recommend trying out the 997 RS as well as the 991.2 to see which you like better. They are, IMO, the peak of Porsche’s manual 911 game but in different ways. The 991 being the ultimate performer while the 997 is the ultimate ‘analog’ driver’s car that still offers modern levels of performance. |
