the new SUV they just came out with is so hot the dealers cant keep it on the lots. I'm hoping the mid engine hatch is real I will buy one if it's anything like the prototype

just bought a 86 TRD to tide me over for a while, this car is really fun in the mountains, thats all we use it for

I went on a test drive of a veloster N yesterday. It was a lot of fun, especially for a front wheel drive car. Decent power, good steering, good grip, fun sounds. Obviously a budget car on the interior. I'm not sure when the veloster is due for an overhaul but I would hope the interior would improve. I've not driven every bmw these days, but it wouldn't surprise me if only the M2 could match the fun factor.

The i30 is quite popular here in Germany. I see a lot of them on the roads in many flavors, including the 5 door wagon model.

Give it a generation or so. Three-door FWD hatchbacks could be about ready to expire just like the two-door FWD coupes have. Although the MINI Cooper three-door sometimes seems like it will be around in the same form in a hundred years (except it'll run on electrons, and it'll drive for you).

I flirted with getting a Veloster N.

It's an absolute blast to drive. The N Mode exhaust has way too many pops and bangs for my taste but it has an individual mode to fix that. The handling and direct feel of the car was incredible though.

The interior on the other hand was pretty terrible. EVERYTHING is hard black plastic and its cheap looking plastic too. They at least could put some padding on the arm rests or something. Interior alone turned me off from buying it. It was big step down from my 128i which isn't a luxury interior by any means.

I will say, the seats were very nice. Perfect amount of bolster and the cloth was comfortable and felt like it would hold up well. I second the poster that mentioned the i30N fastback. They should bring that to the US.

I definitely find it to be softer and more luxurious than Nappa. And regardless it's all relative to the competition. Go to a Mercedes dealer and 95% of their C-class models on the lot have shitty Mb-Tex.

So I would probably never own one of these to be honest. It's the wrong wheel drive. Should be rear, not front. But if you're swayed towards the front, than this is pretty damn cool:

I personally have a ton of respect for what Hyundai has done. The 1986 excel was one of the biggest shit boxes ever and 40 years later they are building cars that rival the worlds best.

How anyone could have anything negative to say about the addition of a well priced performance car boggles my mind.

Only let downs for me were the navigation head unit and some of the switchgear not feeing as tactile, other than that, I think its pretty nice considering the $15k delta between the two, not to mention I think the 3er is pretty cheap for its class when it comes to interior and materials, my son's Mazda6 Signature feels more luxurious than a G20. But that's just my opinion.
I am seriously hoping Genesis comes out with the long awaited sports coupe, likely based on the G70 and marketed as a GT70.
Guaranteed to feature a better nose than the G22.

Speaking of hot hatches. I really hope we get to see the new Audi RS3 hatchback here in US.

We are going to get the sedans. The new S3 sedan looks great, with the exception of fake vents out back.

Yeah the RS3 is a great performing car for... double the price of a Veloster N.
If you want a S3 hatch why not get a golf R?

And they are even cheaper on the ground. This is just a few miles from the house, with the additional performance pack that upgrades the brakes, wheels/tires, and a bit more HP.

Because everyone shits on everything on the internet.

As to someone else who asked if you would buy one? I would consider it. I had a '10 Speed 3 I purchased new back then. Only reason I got rid of it was so I could get another project car. At the time my wife (now ex) said that's fine, just get a truck for a house stuff and then you can tow with it too.
