It's nice that they brought this program back.

Got that offer too. Purchased my 2020 X3MC (built Sep 2019) in Feb 2020. I haven't called to check on dates but at this point I'm a little wary of too much close contact with strangers. Going to wait and see what happens with the health situation later in the year.

I know you used to get a credit for a one day track event with them with a new car purchase at least with m cars.

And you could do the performance center delivery which basically comes with something similar as well.

So for M cars, there is an option in the build that includes a 1-day M track event. But it is basically paying for the event anyways.

And PCD is similar to this new owner track day. An actually course from the performance center is very different from this event. Think of this as a very lite version and more of a marketing event than any serious track time with learnings.

FYI...I took delivery of my 2020 M2C on 15 February 2020 and I received the email from BMW of North America for the track invite on 06 August 2020. Also, I am a first time BMW buyer.

hi all -

i just called. it's a Monday or Friday at either CA or SC. it's 2 hours. the woman told me 1 guest is FREE, even though i mentioned it indicates there's a charge...

i did M school last Nov in SC and it was a blast, but it was also a full day of driving. for me personally, not sure it's worth a long drive or covid flight from VA to SC for 2 hours...

i would feel differently if it was logistically easier for me to get there.

"Oh, I see you live in NY and purchased a new BMW, but here's a free $300 voucher for a trip down to our Performance Center in South Carolina or CA. BTW you have to arrange for lodging and travel".

What a cop out, just cover a lease or finance charge for a month at that point. If this is in any way a pandemic related incentive it fell flat on its face.

I agree!

However, look at it like this. The $300 is arbitrary, it costs next to nothing for them to have you in one of their cars for 2 hours. They're banking on you going to the gift shop and eating at their cafe to get the benefit back to them. Also, BMW works closely with the local gov to boost commerce. People have to rent a hotel, food, etc and BMW gets a portion of revenue. This is a textbook case of providing what people see as a "valuable" experience, but in actuality, it has little to no cost for BMW to provide this value. I have advised many clients on this concept / principle.

So I actually found out about program a while back.
They didn't actually start offering it till June 15 2020..
The first class was on 7/24/2020. I went on 8/7/2020.

Well worth it.
I drove a Z4 M40i, M2 Comp, M4 Comp, and M8 Comp.

I did a post on this a few days back....

I've done the delivery twice and and it's nice.

And not the m driver option thing but you get an actual credit for just 1 day driving school not m school. And then you can upgrade that and use the credit.

The option you mentioned is the m drivers pack thing which is a one day m school and removed the top speed limiter. Waste of money IMO.

This is not the same. This offer is not a full day or even half day event. It gives you very little track time in a lead-follow format. Some auto-x and a drag race. It's only 2-hours and does not include a meal, hotel, transportation or otherwise. It would be awesome if you lived near either performance center but if not it's probably not worth it. Plus you can't use this as a credit towards any other performance center track days.

I don't see it this way at all. They are offering something for free, if it works out for you or you think it is a good idea then great, if it doesn't you lost nothing. Just another offer for something that you may or may not want to use. Not like they are out overselling it or trying to make it into something more than it is.

Covering a payment costs them exactly what it costs you, giving this to you likely costs them close to nothing.

I see that now. Were you able to get a full day out of it? How much time did you get on the track with you driving? When I called they said it was only 2 hours and very limited time on the track with me behind the wheel. Didn't seem worth it considering I am in Texas.

The thing is when you call, the people behind the phones know absolutely nothing. Me and my cousin were schedule to go together on 7/24, we were told there will not be any M cars whatsoever. I backed out because of that (I live in NJ, and this was in SC). He went there and he got to drive Z4M40, M2C, M4C, X5MC).

When I heard about that, I signed up again to go, and I got to drive Z4M40, M2C, M4C, and M8C.

I got an insane amount of track time for a free event. I want to say roughly 45 minutes. There were a total of four people in my event, and the instructor did say that because there's only 4 people here, we are getting extra drive time since we don't have to switch as often.

I enjoyed track driving a lot, and I would've gone even if I was based in TX since there isn't much to travel for these days anyways. However, it's probably best to book a one day M-school, and do New Owner's Track Drive the day before the M school.

I had never been to PDS East before, so it was an experience for me regardless..Plus I have been eyeing an M8C for awhile now, especially since I'm not feeling the G8x grills. For me, I got the opportunity to drive the M8C on the track for several laps. That alone made the whole experience extremely worth it.

I think the cars aren't guaranteed though, so don't bank on driving the M8.
