I think for regeneration there is a separate indicator, mine is just almost dead

Guys, not to hijack this thread, but an article caught my attention about removing the headlights on a Porsche. Here are some thieves removing them from a Cayenne. Is it really this easy?

Yes its easy, not an issue in my neighborhood in some countries they have locks which prevent stealing

Those check engine lights have been around for 40+ years tripped by mileage intervals, causing you to panic and take your car to the dealer. An honest dealer(hahaha) will reset it and you are good for another 15000 miles or whatever it trips at. A normal dealer will find all kinds of things to charge you for and that light is what got you in the door. If pushed into a corner the real purpose of the light is a reminder to inspect and clean or replace the EGR valve.

Depends. If it's more than 55% full and never driven adequately to provide 2 half cycles or 1 full cycle, MIL becomes the main indicator. 75% and still no operator allowed regen = MIL and limp mode.

The service procedure is to force a partial regen, reset the counter, and inform the client. 3 repeat cycles is all you can get. 4th trigger (95% capacity) cannot do even an emergency diagnostic regen. Warranty will not cover a DPF replacement caused by misuse.

Well I had code come up 3 times now. I also drive mostly highway. It should be covered under dieselgate warranty upto 120k miles. Dealer said they will replace if code comes back the 4th time. For some reason they kinda ignore the previous 2 times I had the same code, saying its the 1st time and before I had different issues

ECU light back on, car back to the shop to get part replaced. Its like $3-4k worth of parts and labor. More if they end up replacing some sensors too.
