I am serious, and they had two of them. Nothing that a couple of years of sales can't fix. Yes, you would be the first on your block with one, but there are so many Porsches at or close to that price range, new and slightly used...

People that can spend over $100k and decide not to do other things with it and instead buy a car with huge ADM, they know it is going to depreciate a LOT. When new ones are going for $10k under in a couple of years, guess what the one you paid $20k over is going to be worth used?

Some people are selling them to make a profit, especially when waiting lists are pretty much full for at least the next year or even two.

Still stuns me how little car guys are aware of the price of performance cars. The market is incredibly strong.

A lot of guys just repeat stuff they here/see on the forums from others who do the same from others who do the same.

Like the people who bitch about the cost of new full-size trucks not realizing no one pays close to MSRP. And if you're picking up a last years model, it's very easy to get $15k off MSRP when purchasing one.

I wish Ford or Chevy made an upscale Lincoln or Cadillac coupe built on the Mustang or Camaro platform, like the former Cadillac CTS.

I like a coupe for the longer doors, I want something that's fun to drive, and I have no need to carry passengers. At the same time, I don't want a daily driver that shouts "midlife crisis."

Hell yeah, take all those old foxbody derivatives like the Mark VII or Capri and put it on the S550 platform.

Ford was professionally racing Mustangs even before there was a 3-series, let alone the E30 M3. In fact, every electric HO racing car set came with Mustangs and Camaros in the racing guise of the day (late 1960's).

Mustangs in regards to performance, really shouldn't give a shit about a prissy BMW 3-series, M-brand or not.

Oh, right, "But the interior sucks."

Lol.

You are kidding, right?

Ah, GM already does; they are called the ATS and ATS-V(past) and CT4 and CT5 (present).

You are kidding, right? The CT4 and CT5 are only available as four door sedans, not two door coupes.

Everything I read also stated GM has no intentions at this time of a coupe for the new models either.

IME, this backfires. It means much of the time, you can't open the doors fully, because they are too long and something is blocking. You try to park as far away from anything else as possible (for multiple reasons), but inevitably this keeps happening. At least that's my experience with the car in the picture.

As much as I like to see an American car being the fastest around a track, I see 2 things wrong with the GT500:

1) it’s like bringing an artillery cannon to a knife fight, with all its heft and heat generating FI setup, and still undersized rear rubber, and
2) no manual. Lost me there. Willing to forgive (1) given it’s quicker than an M8, but not being able to shift myself is a no go

I know it’s just a pipe dream, but I would love to see Ford re-create a AWD Hoonicorn. Street legal of course, and with the retro body style. I would be so in!

The ATS was offered in a coupe. Not sure the CT4 or 5 has been ruled out as a coupe..

i'd venture a guess that if you put the M8 on sport cup 2 tires the difference between it and the gt500 would only be a few tenths around track. On michelins website they say the cup2 usually drops times by -1.8 seconds per lap of a 1.3 mile track Jerez (similar to limerock).

thats why i always take cup/trofeo tired cars laptimes with a grain of salt on these tests.

It's never been a problem for me. I just have to be careful that I don't put on too many pounds during the holidays, making me unable to squeeze through the door.

No disrespect but, I have no clue where you are going with this. Model T's were released before the Prius but I have no desire to own either. I had an electric race track as a kid that had trucks (in the 80's). I don't care what the interior of Mustang looks like because I can't get past the exterior.

Well, anyone can say they don't recognize any car as anything. It's a dumb comment, respectfully. The Mustang as seen by the general public and the industry actually is what counts. Not many cars get released and end up selling 400,000 in 1 year and 1M copies in the span of 24 months.

Anyone can say anything they like. Also anyone can claim that anyone's statement is dumb. It's all matter of opinion. I stated mine, everyone stated theirs. It's funny to me that if I make an unpopular comment, even though it's my opinion and by no means fact, people need to reply telling me how dumb my opinion is.....which is rare I might add (note the numbers to the left), but I don't claim to be right, even half the time.

Disclaimer: My posts are my opinions of topics held herein. In no way should my posts be taken as factual comments, unless expressed otherwise.

You know what? Screw it. You guys are all right. I'm going to leave work today and go buy 5 Mustangs based solely on this article and this thread. I am beyond overjoyed that I get to be just like everyone else now. I'm amazed at how much better I feel already.

Seriously, I'll drive by 50 mustangs on my way home today and won't notice a damn one of them. I realize oversaturation is a hard concept to grasp.

Agree. I'm a hard core BMW guy (three in the garage right now), but credit where it's due. I wouldn't buy one for same reason I'm not interested in G80 - too big, too heavy, and don't love styling.

You forgot:
3) Dealers asking $130k! It's a Mustang! Even if you are a fan, you can buy two GT350s for that.
