$150K isn't what it used to be.

$150K a year in most major metropolitan cities qualifies you as upper middle class.

There is a BIG difference between being able to afford a first class ticket, and owning your own jet.

Holy crap! Somewhere in america the cost of living must be really cheap ... and a major portion of BMW owners must live there.

Breaking it down, I have to think that even in that half under 102k, the curve is pushed up around the 75k and over range, nudging toward 100k. If half of the BMW buyers have a household income less than 100k that's either a lot of single dudes living in apartments buying BMWs or that's families with a very low cost of living.

I am not sure if you are being facetious (given some of the other posts in this thread), but keep in mind the vast majority of Bimmers sold are the least expensive models, which really are not that much more expensive than, say, a nice Camry or Accord, so the $100K number shouldn't surprise. I would assume the average household income for just the 6er and 7er would be a heck of a lot higher.

Also, I agree you're struggling in many places in the US with a household income of "only" $100K per year. Imagine trying to pay a mortgage, two car loans/leases (at least one of which is a Bimmer), saving for retirement, and putting your kids through school, all on $100K per year. That won't even get you halfway there in most major metropolitan areas.

What's sad about this situation is that less than 20% of the population falls into this category. See the attachment.

To be able to afford a bimmer at all, life has to be good. Very good.

You can see the full table on page 40 of the linked document (PDF page 47)

Interesting stuff here. From what I can see a good proportion of the members of this board are younger with pretty low incomes spending a large proportion of their incomes to have the opportunity to drive a BMW.

No way is it that much. It's 11,904.762.

I'd ratherbe paid in Pesos than I'd feel rich. 150k = 1,658,631.518 Pesos.

I think you're off by a factor of 10, adjusting for fluctuation. The rate of exchange I just saw was €1.00 = $1.2662. So, $150,000 is €118,464.70.
