I just got back from 4 days in Vegas, went with my buddies for NFL wildcard weekend/betting. Was a blast, everything we did was all off strip.
When I go with my wife, it has to be all on-strip (casinos, restaurants, etc.) and it's a very different kind of Vegas trip....so it's what you make of it for sure. |

My SIL and her husband got married there. They always like to take us to Golden Nugget. But hey, we're old-er
I don't care to play high-stakes table games, so staying around Fremont is OK by me. We generally spend at least one day where to motor down to the glitz and wander thru all the fancy-azz hotels. And for some reason I can't decipher, at least one day we have breakfast at the Pepertree, then wander thru the dollar store on the next block, WhyTF am I in a cheap dirty store in Vegas??? SOME DAY, I *WILL* win that Chip Foose Mustang |

I've been twice, but neither time was to hit the strip - was visiting friends who moved there and never even went on the strip. So...basically in the same boat as you.
Tons of stuff I'd love to do there but I have a hard time justifying the expense to myself. I dunno. Just seems like waaaaay too easy to lose track of spending in a city designed around getting you to do exactly that.

Been several times for business and pleasure. I have a trade show there every few years.
I have not loved any of the trips there. If I never went back I’d be plenty fine. I stay at the Wynn usually or the encore. Used to look forward to visiting the Ferrari dealer in the lobby. Now that’s gone. The hotels are nice and rooms amazing but the people working in Vegas are trashy for the most part. The guests even in the best of places are Jerry springer audience members as said above. Just not my cup of tea. I can take or leave the gambling. |

Not a Vegas person at all because I don't know how to gamble. It's cool to visit one time just for the experience, which I did. I had no idea when playing 21 that my decisions impacted others, so my only consideration was myself. The guy next to was like, man you shouldn't hit, you're really pissing everyone else off. Whoops.
That said, I went a couple of times during the pandemic. I enjoy staying at nice hotels for $150/night, eating good food and using the pool. |
