UK fuel in my area is now something like $8.16 (US gallon) for 'super'.

I just checked too. Delaware which is where my vacation home is shows $3.447. Looked deeper at the numbers and the site says per gallon price is up $0.597 from a year ago.

Here in NorCal PG&E has been asking their regulator (the CA Public Utilities Commission) for, and getting, 6+% electric rate increases every year. They have made it clear that they will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. And the PUC will grant the increases, because that's the deal here; under the laws that regulate them, in exchange for being one of the most heavily regulated businesses in the country, PG&E is essentially guaranteed a profit of ~5%, so as their costs rise they just pass them on. |

You mean my 13.5 mpg commute? I was impressed a few weeks ago when I took a drive up to our PA property. I got 21 mpg.

It's to plug the drafts, you've been using it wrong.
Seeing some of the building practices from the 60s makes you scratch your head, 260yrs would have been raw timbers and stones? Insulation maybe tar paper? |

EDIT: I realized what I was going to say sounded horrifically insensitive to those who don't do things like play around on forums with BMWs.

My electric bill has gone up substantially. I noticed it this past spring. My May 2021 bill was over $100 higher than May 2020. In May 2021 we were gone 16 days out of the month vs us being home almost the whole month in May 2020. We only have Entergy LA as an option for electric.

My natural gas and electricity bills have gone up. The killer utility bill for me is water.
During the drought a few years ago, our city weenies asked us to reduce our water consumption, which we did. Next, our city weenies started complaining that while it was nice that we were conserving water, their water revenues went down. So, our city weenies upped our water rates dramatically so they could recover the monetary losses. After the drought ended and folks could go back to watering their lawns, etc., the new, higher rates stayed in place. So now we pay exorbitant water bills and the city racks in bigger bucks than ever!

Pretty sure you can put together a long list of $$ items in California like gasoline. I definitely don't miss that. |

My heating bill (gas) last month was $232 to heat a 2000 sq ft home in the Kansas City metro. That's the highest it's been ever. It was fairly cold and I keep the house at 74 in winter. We also ran the gas fireplace a few times.
Everything is more expensive right now, especially food. We're spending about $150 more a month on groceries than we did 12 months ago. We eat expensive food because we cook all the time and spare no expense on quality meat, veggies, etc. I'm not going to skimp out on food or having a warm home in the winter. We can afford it and I simply won't do it. I like good food and my wife would be a villain if she was cold all the time. The only thing we've really changed with all this inflation is not buying frivolously and pointless crap we don't need. It's been nice

I have a client with large manufacturing operations in Europe and natural gas prices over the past 9-12 months have increased wildly. It will get a lot more expensive if Putin actually takes the next step into Ukraine. U.S. exporting a lot to Europe right now. Only so much to go around if Russia exports (as expensive as they are) are removed from the market entirely.
