I have that same problem with GSF and have found that using less soap seems to help, no matter in a foam cannon or in just a bucket. The key to me, although for the record it does NOT completely eliminate the weird film it like to leave, is to suds up and use your mitt, then rinse quickly with a normal hose pattern (just a hose, no pressure washer, on full tilt boogie) on each panel that you wash.

I found that even using optimal conditions with a pressure washer that has more water volume than high pressure, washing inside in my AC'ed garage, the GSF still requires some extra attention and care to get that wonky weird film off (or not allow it time to dry and form up).

I am not getting any more GSF after I use these two bottles up, as it doesn't seem to raise my wash game any at all, in fact, it adds another item for me to put in my checklist when washing with GSF. Not worth it. Washing should be easy!

I'm definitely getting something else, next. I haven't tried Reload, yet. I may give that a try. My car is full PPF and Ceramic anyway.

How much soap are you using? I use GSF as well and did not have any issues. I use 1oz for every 8 oz in foam cannon. I end using 3oz for 24oz of water.

Reload does the full PPF and ceramic quite handily. Just washed the 911 (PPF and ceramic) and the BMW (just ceramic) and used Reload, outside, cloudy FL day, dried both inside the AC'ed garage and zero janky film that GSF leaves.

Cheers!

That's what I need, for sure. I'm still wiping the GSF film off the car, that didn't wash off.

I don't measure it into a 5 gal bucket. I just dump it over and let it chug 2-3 times. Leaves a dollop about the side of a grapefruit.

Yea not too sure, I am thinking either too much soap or the type of protection on the vehicle already.
GSF is pretty solid for most people.

It seems like Feynlab ceramic doesnt like it.

Reset. It also foams really well in a foam cannon.

Thanks all for your suggestions. It seems like CarPro Reset is the popular choice so I went ahead picked some up and I see why it's so popular. A little goes a really long way and it manages to produce a lot of suds. I was particularly impressed during the drying process there was no hint of sticky residue; something that I noticed when using Chemical Guys. All in all I'm very satisfied and grateful for everyone's advice!

Good to hear you like it and Reset fits your needs. Plus, it just smells good too.

Have used GSF only since the spring, before that it was off and on with Adams. GSF is great, love the smell. I have had no issues with it and use it both in cannon and in the bucket.

As for reset, that's more of a 2-4 times a year soap to help get rid of road film and reset the coating.

Might be considered Blasphemous here, but can I just go to a touchless carwash if I have Xpel PPF and ceramic coating or is that a big No No. Dont have much time to hand wash the car and isnt the PPF supposed to protect the paint anyways.

I'm no expert but I probably wouldn't. I would be concerned about the PSI coming out of sprayers on the touchless car wash. I have to imagine it's pretty high given they want ANY car that goes through to come out clean regardless if it's coated, PPF'd, or factory clear coat. Have you thought of ways to reduce the wash/dry time so you can fit a quick wash into your schedule occasionally? Don't have my G80 yet but I have a X7 that is ceramic coated that's fairly easy to wash. I save a ton of time by using a DI rinse. You can legit just rinse it then let it dry, full sun, no sun. Doesn't matter dries without spots. With the ceramic coat and a good soap most things wash right off. Get a good maintenance spray/wash and the ceramic coat hydrophobic properties will last and make washing way easier. Another time saver is a retractable hose reel. Has to save at least 10-20 minutes of uncoiling/coiling a hose back up and storing it. I totally get the busy life thing so I spend the extra money trying to cut time off of the time consuming things like washing my car.

Anyone have any experience with Adam's Graphene Shampoo? It's pH neutral and has SiO2 to help maintain the ceramic coat hydrophobic properties.

If you don't mind light surface scratches that you (or a paid detailer) periodically remove, an automatic carwash is a reasonable option for us in northern climes with limited time to keep a car clean. Regular washing is better than leaving road salt residue to fester until you have time for a proper hand wash.

Such was the case with a Black Sapphire X5 we recently replaced. It was ceramic coated upon (new) delivery, then run through a decent automatic carwash at least weekly. I applied a light polish and touch-up layer of paint sealant a couple times a year. TBH, it looked pretty good to the naked eye after 3 years.

On the other hand, both current BMWs are hand washed exclusively, and neither are showing any surface scratches after 8 and 11 months.

Thanks. Its really a pain to hand wash cars with temp consistently below 50 for like 6 months and winters being really cold with all the road salt causing more issues. The light polish and the paint sealant seems to be a good idea. Will try that atleast in the winters and then do a proper hand wash during the summer.

Thanks. It gets cold up here by Oct and lasts till May. Average temp is like 50-55F with lows of like 35-40F. Doing a outdoor handwash is hard with the cold and the water freezing on the ground. Thats why thought id do the automatic wash during winters/spring and hand wash them in Summer.

No worries. I get it. I spent the first 18 years of my life in Michigan so I know where you’re coming from. Just trying to help you with possible solutions that won’t ruin your car.

Appreciate it. How did u do it in the winters? I usually turn off my outside faucets by fall before the first freeze. Also my car is a detached garage and gonna be standing outside in the cold washing it

I just meant about doing anything in the frozen tundra up north. I was young in those days and wasn’t worried about how to detail a $100k car in the winter months. Wish I could help you there.

I faced the same challenges as you, until a recent home renovation -- hence my reliance on automatic carwashes. Now our garage is heated and decluttered (new garden shed), and there's hot/cold soft water spigot installed. I can comfortably wash our vehicles indoors with the garage door cracked to let the water drain outside. The only downside is dealing with small area of ice on the driveway until the next warm-up.
