I don't have a problem shopping early, especially if I know exactly what someone wants. I do have a problem with playing Christmas music or putting up lights before Thanksgiving. Last Monday, I pull up to our place of business and I see Christmas lights! I went batshit. I get scheduling early to get them up, but don't dare put them on. It wasn't even Halloween yet. They have since been unplugged. See you in 4 weeks.

I love Christmas time and have Christmas spirit but it seems like a competition on who can get them up first. |

I was down in GA at a Home Depot a few weeks ago on OCTOBER 18th, and they already had the entire Christmas department set up with artificial trees, lights, music, etc!!!!!

Before we left for our cruise on 10/13 local HD was already stocking the Christmas stuff. They had already removed all the Halloween, or at least relegated them to a sale bin (50% off)

I dunno for me Thanksgiving is the appetizer for Christmas. If there isn't a tree up during Thanksgiving it's a shit Thanksgiving. Especially in FL where we really don't get a fall season and it's fucking 85F on Thanksgiving. I need that tree or something to visually show that we are in a new season.
Also putting up xmas shit is a pita. I'm not doing it to have it up for a month. IMO starting Nov 1st is fair game and I'll leave that bitch up till the 4th of July. |

Here in Minnesota we put up Christmas stuff right after Halloween because you never know when it will turn below zero or a foot of snow.
Now lighting it all is a different story. |

At the rate inflation is going these days, a $50 holiday gift could be a cup of take-out coffee.....

Our oldest son and his wife are moving to Japan (not Okinawa) in early '24 for a three-year billet. It is voluntary, they are both very excited, and already beginning to embrace the culture. So I got him the Lego Bonsai (which comes with leaves and spring blossoms - very cool) and her the Orchid. Both $49.99.

Lived on Honshu for 3 years and have lots of memories. Riding my 500cc two stroke bike to Suzuka or climbing Mr. Fuji getting my walking stick branded up the climb. Visiting Sapparoro well that was not by choice but fun. Uncle sent us. Tell your Son and his wife to explore. Don't stay in typical enclaves of Americans.
