They didn’t offer it but given their silence and non defense to anything… Probably. The installer just said yeah you’re right.
The manager didn’t say much just took pics and said yeah needs a full reinstall, so…. probably…… |

Id probably try to get a full refund. And have you looked at any other installers? Was Chicago Auto Pros an option?

Teslas are huge on getting their cars PPFd. Id even go as far as asking someone from a Tesla club.

Mine was roughly on par with OP's in some ways, lots of bubbling, but now I need to go check my headlight seals and shit. Didn't even think to look at that.
The shop took the car back and redid all the work though and it wasn't anywhere near that expensive so I can't complain too much, but...yeah. First pass was pretty bad.

Fair enough. I had my reservations but also the confidence that with as many Lamborghinis, Ferraris, etc were in the shop, my car was in good company and they'd make it right - one way or another.

100% take it back and full refund. I wouldn’t trust them to take it off either. Sorry that happened. Brutal on their part.

I was going to recommend Chicago Auto Pros. $14k is wild. The best of the best jobs are around half that. |

Hey I own a detail shop in the Chicago area and would love to get you squared away. Sadly that is a very poor installation. But it would have been more with disassembly sadly. Most shops won’t take the car apart due to not having experience and wanting to deal with a other headaches. I spent 15 years as a auto tech before I opened a detail studio so I have plenty of experience In that area. Would love to take a look and do what I can to assist a fellow BMW Enthusiast

Op, get your money back. At this point with that shit quality of a job, my level of trust to have them touch my car again is a big fat ZERO!
With that type bread they charged you for that job, they had only one assignment which was to get it right on the first go, and they failed. Last edited by SpacegrayMe90; 02-16-2023 at 09:48 AM.. |

A little humor, the panels are failing even more so now. I sent them to a friend and his response was “now it just looks like they’re trolling you” 🤣 I don’t appreciate the shop telling me when I left I did mention all of this stuff, which is only half true. The tech told me all this stuff would resolve etc. and the level of peeling 3 months in is absolutely bananas. Example, tucked edge on the trunk… Also that uneven cut on the roof, vs the other side they tried to tuck it and it’s not even holding. |

After looking at your pics, please leave a nasty review of the shop after your funds is back in your possession. The trunk is just absurd! There has to be some level accountability on the quality of service they provide. |

Man, that is shameful.
It looks like they used a pre cut pattern for your car and didn't bother lining things up. That's the real problem with precut PPF, an experienced shop would start with full sheets then cut to within an 1" around the the panel they are working on. As more of the water and air are pushed out only then will they do the final cut around the outside edges. If done well you should have to look closely to see the edges of the film.

I have seen worse jobs done but definitely not installed well. It looks like they did a self-cut style job. Which would explain why your edges look so off and uneven. There is a reason why some detailers don't do that, because that happens. Very rarely do installers have an extremely steady hand to make those type of edges look extremely clean. If they explained to you that, they are going curl the edges in so you don't see it, well they did an awful job at it. It doesn't look like they removed the panels either which kills the point of doing what they did.
If you paid 7k for that, you definitely can talk to Xpel directly and ask for a refund through them if you make enough noise and the installer aren't being helpful. There is a good and negative with pre-cut PPF installs and self-cut installs. Well done self-cut installs are extremely rare and installers who do that still make mistakes (as well as cutting your car on occasion). Pre-cut PPF installs are the safest but it comes with the risk of it not going to the edge, but so long as you protect MOST of your car right at the right places, that is what matters. So, to answer your question. Yes, that job is pretty bad but I have seen worse. Edit: Well I showed this to my detailer and he is amazed how bad it is. He is unsure of how they managed to damage your lights during the install and is iffy about damage under your paint. Meaning they could have damaged your paint but you won’t know until the Stealth PPF comes off. Most Stealth PPF installs do require hand trimming but this is particularly bad. They did this car in bulk install, meaning they had multiple cars doing PPF at the same time so they weren’t too careful. Get your money back or talk to Xpel directly.
