Nonsense

I've had 7 different non-Bugatti cars with PPF in the past, and believe it or not, 2 were even BMWs. Some were partial front, some full front, some full vehicle. I will never again use pre-cut template stuff. Wrapped edges only for me. If you don't mind seeing seams from the wax and soap buildup on your car 1 year into your PPF lifecycle, you will be fine with the pre-cut stuff. If you mind, well, you have been warned.

The stuff is expensive, especially when they need to take apart areas of the car to apply and wrap certain bits of the car (side mirrors, headlights, tailights, etc). This decision depends on your wallet, of course, but you should also consider how clean you keep your car, where you drive and the local roads, etc.... In my area of the Northeast, the roads are terrible, potholes kicking up rocks are everywhere, salt (in the winter) and debris (all year round) on the roads is common. I drive my cars without worry, and wash them without worry as well. Paint swirls on dark paint are a thing of the past.

There's a reason all 911s come the factory with a small piece of PPF on the rear fenders--they need the protection because of the wide rear hips in the line of fire from the front wheels. My installer, one of the best anywhere, adds a second, let's call it throwaway, piece of PPF on the rear fenders when they do full body 911 installs. Makes it easy to remove and replace that single piece on each side once there is damage--say every 1-2 years. Of course, if you have a garage queen, there's no need to worry about that.

i had it on my 458 (black) and there are pros and cons. my edges started peeling after a couple years. there were cuts in the ppf where the bumper was complicated and they had to use multiple pieces. there was dust and a hair trapped under the ppf as most places dont use a clean room or paint booth to do this stuff. In saying that, ppf is very installer dependent. just like a car wrap. The positive is it made it very easy to clean.

personally i dont use ppf anymore. it isn't on my gt3 or m2c because those are fun weekend cars where i dont have to tail gate people going to work. i dont drive them when there is salt on the road. i dont do road rallies or follow cars doing 100mph+ on back roads.

if you do have a nice daily driver and are picky about your paint it makes sense. but dr colorchip can fix 90% of the chip for a fraction of the cost. you wont recoup the money you spent on a full ppf.

Does Bugatti make a Manual? I’m keeping this car for the rest of my days. Last ICE Manual M car, I’m going to spend a few bucks to help protect her from the elements and my fellow New Yorkers.

I first had PPF applied to my '08 QX56 back in '07, and have put it on all of my cars since then. Still have the QX56, and the PPF has kept the front looking good as new.

I live in AZ and stone chips are daily so with PPF my paint stays perfect and PPF the front every 2-3 years (sooner with track time) and its like new each time. I also ceramic coat everything inside and out just do to the ease of cleaning. I like to hand wash my own rides all of them. lol
An acquaintance who uses his Porsche GT3 extensively on track (120 mph and more of top speed) did a full PPF on the car and still objects were getting through the protective coating and damaging the paint. He spent the money thinking that the painting would be protected and it was not the case. It is clear that without PPF the damage to the paint would have been much greater.

After reading your comments, it is possible that I'll do PPF to the front of the car.

It really does depend on the PPF they used. Many good installers have a couple options. Some have what they call Track Pack PPF and that stuff is too thick for tight bends and corners so they put it where it matters most and then put other ppf.... Issue here is it doesn't look as good at all. So really depends on how much track time and what your tolerance is for function over beauty.

Certainly not for everyone because of cost, but since I don't believe in garage queens, I always do full body PPF. I can't tell you how many times over this investment has paid for itself. All you have to do is look at how I dodge the bullet on the Xago which has a special paint process that is not easily repaired. Did a video on that.

That said, I use only XPEL Ultimate (now using their 10 mil product). Team in Pittsburgh area is Blackout Tinting that are the best around here. So yea, I use it and swear by it.

I have never put PPF on a car. Guess I am old school.

I am going thought putting PPF on my car looks good, easy to do and does a good job

Do you have experience with PPF?, what are your comments in favor?, what are your comments against?

Sure does. Why do you think it doesn't? It won't stop massive hits (nothing will), but it will reduce glancing blows. My car's clearcoat has lots of miniscratches that PPF could have prevented.
