I’m excited to see something new . I’ve been in the market for a fully electric BMW but nothing in the lineup is very exciting to me so hopefully this will be on a next level.

On a platform dedicated to that model alone. An experiment which will hopefully make future EVs better.

[QUOTE=techwhiz1;30445716]The next platform will also support BEV, hybrid and ICE. Slightly different than now where BEV is a main priority, but you still aren't getting a "frunk".

Wrong.

NK platform is BEV only - newer models of other cars eg X5/X7 will use CLAR (current platform and be available as all 3 types).

You are absolutely wrong. While Neue Klasse will debut with BEV, it is a modular architecture that can support ICE and hybrid. BMW's CEO has stated that. While they may not introduce ICE at the introduction, or maybe never, the modular architecture does have the ability to host ICE powertrains.

What they can make and what they will make are not the same thing. BMW can make a 4 motor M EV with 1000HP. They have one or more testing. That doesn't mean they will make it because they can

This is great!

It looks like this BMW has visited the orthodontist AND the plastic surgeon vet!

The buckteeth and pig snout are…dare I speculate…remedied?

Actually he is right and you are wrong while in the beginning NK was planned as Cross Platform, later it was changed to be BEV only.

Nope, it’s BEV-only. Where do you get this wrong information?

Don’t hold your breath. There’s no room for enough battery capacity in anything small to have good range yet.
IMO BMW is smart to be focused on daily driver friendly BEVs instead of small BEV coupes at the moment.

Could re-write that last statement to "IMO BMW is smart to be focused on daily driver friendly SUVs instead of small coupes the last X many decades.

Off topic but are you envisioning another small BMW coupe in addition to the 2 Series the last X many decades? Seems ambitious.

The company is definitely feeding the demand for large and comfortable cars. They never really made a "small" modern coupe (similar to gt86 or miata stature). The 2 series is... hefty, the new one even more so. Maybe in a few years if EV battery tech develops far enough they can ditch the massive lump needed to have a half decent range. But by then, no one will likely know what a sports car even is.

To be honest, I like this design WAY better than a majority of their current offerings...the individual design elements work well as a whole here, IMO. I can't say that for the funky rectangles and triangles on the 2 series, the bugs bunny grills on the 3/4, the jutting and jarring angles on the G60, the utter eyesore the new 7 series is (hoodline, grille, where do I begin) and the XM...

Looks Charger'esque from the side (I may be getting confused, but if not Charger, it's along those lines). I guess you're going to always see something of something else in another something. It's a car, and there are only so many variations. But I would think they'd want to avoid similarities to a line designed for those with sub-600 credit scores.
