Skyline GT-R's have always been a little techno-gizmo'd-out. That's kinda the "thing" with them. Use technology to brutally force the road into submission.
Ceramic brakes are certainly not the means to the end (fast lap times), they simply reduce unsprung weight. It is possible the high-spec GT-R uses them, but I don't see that as the differentiating factor. I believe Nissan's implementation of ATTESA is the big deal on this car--far more sophisticated than Porsche's AWD, or my STi's mechanically-controlled AWD. The GT-R will likely be a little "overweight" in our minds, but be able to use every scrap of its large available power. You can bet the version circling in the low 7's is NOT 57-67k. I bet it's pushing 100k. The 57k GT-R will be a hell of a performer in it's class, most likely, but you'll have to seriously pony up to get the Nurburbring-pounder. I have always liked the Skyline... But at the low end of the spectrum I'd probably opt for a Cayman or 911... At the high end, if I could afford the 90-100k for the top dawg, I'd be buying a GT3. Maybe not, we'll see. My wife is going to need a new coupe in the next year... |

The GTR has grown on me alot. The only problem with the car is you have to service it at Nissan which is piss poor at best. If only it were badged as an Infiniti...

Anyways, I believe, with other advancements that it probably has, it could get high 7:30's but 7:15?!!? or even 7:30?!!?, like i said I'll eat my shirt. And if it can do it, it weighs alot less then 1700kg or has alot more then 450hp, or both. Or maybe it's running tires that'll last one lap? |

Like I said, the numbers you are quoting (1700kg/450hp) are for the "lesser" models. If it's circling in the 7:15 range, it's not one of those models.
Remember: Nissan rented the track that day. You think they're f*cking around? No. They WANT us to know the lap times. It builds hype. Who knows if the 7:15 is true, but you can bet it's gonna be well into the 7s. What are you wearing now? Just trying to decide whether to send ketchup, or buttescotch for your shirt-filled snack. |

The GTR will be a monster of a car no doubt. I'm sure the motor is underated. I believe the car is suppose to come in 3 trim levels.
GTR Base $60 GTR V Spec $75 GTR Evo Spec $100 I believe the Evo Spec model will have over 500hp and serious track oriented hardware.... Brakes/oil coolers/aero/etc.
