Oh that’s good to know I guess. I got my 15 Pro Max yesterday and haven’t yet put it on the charging tray of my M3. But perhaps will avoid to do it for now.

It happened to my iPhone 15 pro max within 5 days as well. All the same events as the article. I spent a day driving myself nuts resetting and restoring to find out it's a hardware issue. Brought the phone to Apple, diagnostic confirmed hardware failure, and they ordered me a new phone under warranty. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Stay away from the wireless charging tray with the iPhone 15 Pro

Every  product comes with 1 year of Apple Care out of the box. It won't cover your screen if you drop it, but it will cover any hardware issues — which this clearly is.

I would wait until  come out with an update and confirm this is no longer an issue. If they aren't able to crack this via software, well then iPhone 15 users will be SOL when it comes to BMW wireless charging...

I may be in the minority but I have never used the wireless charger. With the battery life of the iPhone 15 I don’t see any reason to have to recharge in the car.

This isn't a BMW problem, its an Apple problem. QI charging is just a magnetic field. The Iphone converts this magnetic field into electricity to charge. The heat is happening inside the iphone during the conversion.

As stated, Androids don't die and the Apple 14 didn't die on these chargers, so the problem lies in the Apple 15.

Well, it's both, really. The iPhone 15 is kind of an unfortunate release and has many issues, including this one — but BMW's wireless chargers are awful and heat the phones up terribly, while barely charing.

Perhaps Apple should design a better iPhone?

My god, I know! I wasn't planning on upgrading from the 14PM based on the rumors about what was coming, but I didn't expect to be this underwhelmed by the presentation. This year's iPhone is just an incremental update, with a lot of issues too, apparently!

I had the 14PM and can tell you Lol they got me. Really haven’t noticed a difference between the two besides the slight smaller frame.

Why is this an issue specifically with bmw wireless charging? Wouldn’t this be an issue with wireless charging in general? Like Tesla etc who also have wireless charging would also have the problem no?

USB-C is a great step forward, but as long as the notch remains I am not upgreading

Steve Jobs would never allow this crap

To be fair, I also think that BMW really should've recalled these wireless chargers awhile ago. The excessive heat the 2020 and 2023 G20 have sporadically caused on my iPhone 11/12/13/14 (all Pro Max models), my previous work Samsung Galaxy S21/22/23 (all Ultras) and my current work Google Pixel 6 Pro is just unacceptable. Yet a standard Qi charger at the office or MagSafe charger at home does what they're supposed to -- charge normally.

Sometimes I wonder if it's because of the LTE signal booster built into our wireless charger that's causing something to go awry as I've been in rental cars with wireless charging (but no built-in LTE amplifier) that don't give me these issues.

Listen, it's purely subjective. I don't give a shit about USB-C, I mean I'm not opposed to it, but it's not something I will upgrade for — especially since I've got so many lightning cables still)))

I didn't like the way the titanium looked in person, I expected it be stunning, and I just didn't find that to be true.

I prefer the flat edges that were introduced with the 12th iPhone — you have better odds of not breaking your screen when you drop the phone.

Smaller bezels — sure, bring them on, but it's such a minuscule difference...

5x zoom — cool, but I rarely even use the 3x. I was considering upgrading my wife's 13P to the 15P, but the new camera is only available on the Max model — and she'll never go for that...

Anyway))) I really expect the 16 to be a great iPhone year

The dynamic island is actually what made me upgrade to the 14PM! I adore it.
Sure Steve would — he would just say "You're using it wrong."

Steven would fire the entire team ❕

Hard to adore something blocking the view of the screen itself

It’s clever and stupid at the same time

It serves a function, it's interactive. The notch just sat there. I'm not saying I will miss it once they figure out how to have all of the sensors/camera under the display, but we're just not quite there yet, so I appreciate the improvement.

💯

I went from a iPhone 10 to a 14pro but still watch enough video to hate the stupid island blocking content

When they move the sensor behind the screen I will gladly upgrade

Great now I am getting this message and CarPlay won’t work. Never had any issues with my 14 Pro Max.
