If someone has one of these and drives it even moderately quick, they better have the Tire Rack on speed dial.

Not at all. A wagon is an SUV with a lower center of gravity. The M5 wagon is dope for what it is. But guys are expecting M5 sedan performance in a larger wagon.

That's not accurate you think the M3 wagon is some how meaningfully less capable to the sedan? Wagons add some weight and add practically, generally dynamics still trump a SUV, and you save weight. This generation m5 has gained a ton of weight, to the point I don't know why you'd take it over a x5m. It has handicapped the benefits of a wagon.

Do you guys think a slightly modified F90 putting out 700HP would beat this thing in all performance metrics due to weight advantage, or this new M5 would still come out ahead? Thanks!

But can you drive 11 miles around town on a single charge with the F90…I don’t think so!

Seriously, F90 vs G90 will be a fun car wow video to watch then!

Wait a second: will this new M5 require you to charge it? If so, I’m out…..LOL

I dunno, I think it's totally built for the autobahn but it's getting a USA release due to the fact that it might be the best looking BMW in years and will garner heavy interest amongst those that want something new & hot. I've been putting funds away for it, but ultimately I'll probably opt for the updated G87 and save a bunch from not purchasing a G99. Though once it drops it just might be irresistible. We'll see.

What makes you say that? I'm sure it will be fine, but it will weigh more than the x5m and have less interior space. That seems backwards. My comment was generally a wagon is only a slight compromise to the sedan version, in hopes of avoiding the larger compromise of a SUV.

BMW will sell enough of these. The haters won’t buy them which is good. There are many more models in the lineup that can be had. Not every M is meant for everyone’s driving style or wallet.

I would humbly suggest that BMW will sell every single one before this vehicle arrives in the showroom.

Well your right the x5m is around 5400ish lbs? I have one and it’s fantastic but it’s an suv. Moving to the new m5 sedan on going to getting roughly the same weight which sucks and sort of negates the reason I was moving Busch to a car from the suv version. The wagon will be even worse. The thing is this is only a vapors comparison for the moment. Just wait until they out this ridiculous power train in the new gen x5m in a couple of years. That suv will go from 5400 to 64-6500? Lol lol. It’s so ridiculous but it’s going to happen. That’s the real comparison. So your sedan/wagon will then be lighter than its suv counterpart. Great right? 🙄

I believe the f90 at 700 hp would best the new gen m5 by alot. 1000 lb difference is a lot.

I really don’t think many people will cross shop the X5M and this car. Let’s be honest, SUVs are pedestrian in all forms and fast wagons are a total statement piece. The RS6 and this will be the coolest cars on the road IMO.

Definitely not slow. She does look heavy, but obviously handles herself very well. Brakes at the :41 mark are glowing red! I’m seriously considering ordering one. When will BMW open up their ‘build your own BMW’ for this car? Wonder if you’ll be able to order a Competition right out of the gate?

Yea was a touch unfair of me to compare to the weight of the current gen x5m. And you're right the weight gain across all models will keep going.
