I think the interesting question instead of living life 1/4 mile at a time…. is really how is it going to drive. All that weight gain is not ev components has to be a “ton” of bracing, stiffening, and heavy duty go fast parts.

Exactly as quick as a F90 M5.

The F90 M5 from speedo does 0-100 in 3s and 100-200 in 7s

In GPS its 3.2s and 7.3s. I managed to get better times once or twice in the draggy, but thats about it.

The M5 F90 Competition is a 2.9s and 6.8s car.

BMW is not lying. Its the same speed as a base F90 M5, while much heavier and likely worse to hoon around. Disappointing.

That's great in a straight line and I know the M5 is now basically a Autobahn missle, but it's sad how much agility it's lost. Have you seen the Goodwood Festival of Speed reveal going up the hill? Thing looks superrrr heavy in the turns and definitely not nimble.

+1. What Porsche did with their GST-T Hybrid would have made excellent sense here. There's no need for PHEV here, with the bigger battery and charging equipment it requires.

Even better would've been a Bugatti-like execution with a high revving NA motor and hybrid assist for torque fill.

This is probably the last IC M5, they should have celebrated that and used just a bit of EV to make it the best. This car is neither here or there.
