I was one of those people begging for this car for a long time.
Sadly, I’m underwhelmed and it feels bad to not want this car.

front splitter is very good. car doesn't need anything else. MPerformnace stickers should not be installed on real ///M cars.

I have an F90 M5, but think I might buy a Cayenne Turbo next and tune it. I bought the M5 because its lighter weight and underrated engine gave it the best sports sedan performance. The G90 weighs 1000 lbs more and its added electric power system may not be able to improve performance given all the extra weight. Thought about an X5M but the ride is not as good as the Cayenne Turbo.

Agree, it would be in my garage. This touring is too expensive and complex.

I (pre-)ordered one.
Lots of bla-bla about track performance and weight here and on other forums, but I’ll use it in every day commute and long range travel, not on track (who here actually does?). No getting around hybrids here in Europe, and look at the weight of other high end cars like Panamera and AMG SL. Not much different.
If you don’t dig it, it’s easy: don’t buy it. It will help to keep numbers low, and in the end residual value high. I saw a E61 M5 (who didn’t hate the Bangle/Archangeli design when it came to the market?) at a local dealer yesterday, asking price in range of original msrp.

Still don’t love it, still probably end up in it.

(Thought my F90 isn’t going anywhere).

Sadly, even with the carbon fiber trim elements, both the front end and rear of this M5 Touring is still too disjointed and heavy looking in how they are sculpted. I agree that the decals are tacky looking and detract from the vehicle. All in all this is not an elegant looking vehicle at all, nor does it have any sense of fluidity in the design. Alas, IMHO, the total gross weight of this vehicle and its plug-in hybrid propulsion makes it an albatross compared to a 2025 Audi RS 6 Avant Performance which looks much sleeker, has an ICE turbo V-8 propulsion and is almost 700 lbs lighter in total weight.

Everyone moaning about the weight without ever driving it. When the mags start testing it and it is sub 3 seconds 0-60 everyone is gonna change their tune. You watch…

So possibly equivalent to an RS6 that’s been around for 5 years and does so without all of the added hybrid complexity and doesn’t look like AI designed it?

Yeah, people are going to go bonkers for the M5…

It’s not. Look what Porsche did with the .2 GTS. That’s what manufacturers should strive for, but they’re lazy and just throw a giant battery at the problem.

2 things that BMW NA seems to be convinced of:
1. US market does not want estates/station wagons.
2. Alpina models across broader series ranges will not sell.

Front end looks like an inflated balloon. I might come around to liking this M5 at some point, but at this moment Porsche and Audi are more visually appealling even if price forces settling for less power.

I used to think the bangle era cars were ugly. Then this showed up. Now I think they look decent.

I don't forsee many buying this one which will cause BMW to say "see that's why we never offer wagons!" Meanwhile many of us would've given a left nut for a G81 (or even a right one lol)

Completely agree with what you stated. I was thinking the same thing as I did my prior post. Porsche did something innovative. I also wish BMW would have explored getting more power through their new TU2 port injection system instaead oh adding more weight.
