Personally, I would not do PPF on the entire car with an M5. The car is not expensive enough to deserve that level of protection. When I got my F90, I had PPF applied to the front end of the car. Hood, bumper, fenders, mirrors. Then my installer did Modesta coating over the entire car, including the wheels.

When I got my 2023 Audi R8, I did have the entire car wrapped in PPF. But this car was twice the price of an M5 and I intend to keep the R8 forever, so spending the money on full PPF was justified in that case.

RIMs only, perhaps?

I don’t want to do PPF as I’m not sure it’s worth spending €6000 on it.

Any advice?
How long do you plan on keeping the car? How anal are about chips and swirls? Lease or buy

I’m going to aim to stay within warranty. Kind of done worrying about big end bearings in S63/8 et al.

I don’t anticipate swirls /holograms on the paint as my cars are stored in my garage when not in use and are only ever hand-washed.

Not a huge fan of chips, of the paint damage variety, as you might imagine!

S68 each generation has gotten better as they have improved it and fixed the faults. Now if your tuning it's a different story.

Paint correction and ceramic coat it, the. I would consider PPFing the front and hood as those are the high impact areas.

Depending upon the quality of the OEM paint correction could be skipped

Full PPF and Ceramic offers the utimate mix of protection and ease of maintenance. I have always felt this is very much dependent on the type of owner you are as well as the time you plan to keep the car.

My current F90 M5C is my 6th M5 and all have had some variation of PPF - Ceramic … some ceramic only, others PPF in certain areas + Ceramic and the current is Full PPF + Ceramic (interior, full exterior, wheels etc).

Below is the build thread that has details on PPF, Ceramic, Exoshield etc. In case it is helpful. This car is not daily driven and I plan to keep it for a long time and that certainly played into the equation.

For Car Pro which mine is coated in I use a Reset shampoo (foam gun) every 2 months and a Reload spray the same. I alternate them. For weekly wash car gets foamed with Hydro shampoo and sits then mitted and rinsed with spot free water. Keeps the ceramic coating in good shape. Mine is coming up on 3 years and it’s still great

I’ll take the G90 when the mood takes me. Which could be often! 🤣

I’m moderately concerned about rock chips or stone chips as we refer to them.

I’m also a realist. Every dime I put into the car is money I’m never seeing again and I have ambition to get a new one every three years. I don’t lease. €6k in coatings & PPF is a straight loss really, is it not?
Fully agree that PPF is not worth it. I got it on my 2021 Tesla Model S (refresh) because I heard paint from Tesla was sh*t. On the plus side, the paint is still absolutely pristine... but I doubt I'll get much of anything for it when I sell it / trade it in (and yes, I'll shop it around a bit). Maybe can bump up valuation by $500 or $1k?

Not planning to do PPF for this G90.
