This post is hilarious because I think spacers are the most overrated highly sought after mod. Don't get me wrong I have a set on my winter rears because a friend gave them to me, but I legit just really do not see a substantial difference between most of the photos lol

Insurance companies provide cover on the basis of the facts presented i.e. Vehicle spec, Driver, Use location etc.

If any circumstances of cover change and you do not notify them, you could very easily find yourself without cover in the event of a claim.

Modifying a vehicle in any way is not without risk for this reason.

Insurance companies are, ironically, risk averse. The actuaries and underwriters have no sense of humour, quintessential ’corporate types’ whio could find additional risk in ‘Speed Yellow’ paint as it stands out more and is more likely to have folk trying to race you with the additonal attendant risk should you acquiesce.

They would not ‘get’ spacers and would have no data to correlate the previous claims experience of those insureds who had them Vs those who did not.

They would have very little tolerance for unknowns.

So then show me the history of denied claims due to spacers, aftermarket wheels, or muffler mods, or added spoilers, or your air freshener - anything.

This is just not true.

I’m really curious as to what data you’re relying upon to be so certain as to decide my statement was, ‘…just not true’? 🙄

Here’s a statement from the UK Government’s Financial Ombudsman’s office with responsibility for Insurance Services specifically on this matter:

“From tinted windows to new alloy wheels, the pitfalls of vehicle alterations have been highlighted by us for the first time.
We’re encouraging drivers to check their insurance policy small print or risk huge bills.
We can help consumers if they feel unfairly treated by their insurer.
Modifying vehicles could leave drivers thousands of pounds out of pocket.

We are hearing from increasing numbers of vehicle owners who have been left to pay significant sums because they unknowingly invalidated their car insurance.

Car modifications can range from body kits and custom paintwork to performance enhancements such as upgraded exhaust systems or engine tuning.

Whether it’s changing alloy wheels for extra style or remapping the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for better engine performance, not declaring these modifications can have serious consequences.

We see cases where a failure to declare these modifications leads to insurance being invalidated or claims being rejected in the event of an accident.

Often drivers are not aware that modifications – even seemingly minor alterations such as tinted windows or stereo system enhancements – can lead to higher premiums due to the increased risk associated with those vehicles.

Rachel Lam, Ombudsman Director of Insurance at the Financial Ombudsman Service”

The direction that im likely going to take is - 12.5mm fronts and 15mm rear. Real aggressive in the rear and slightly less in the front.

anyone else have this combo already on their cars?
