I also have a sneaking suspicion that this thing isn't going to handle nearly as well as a bimmer, but that's just me letting Ford's past performance (or lack thereof) prejudice my speculation on their future potential. |

1. Whatever the F/I engine and the HP/TQ, it will not be as fast as a BMW 335i.
2. It will not come close to handling as well as a BMW. 3. It will be a heavy boat. 4. Oh, and... 5.

It's the size of a 7 Series and AWD. Why would anyone think it's going to be as fast as a 335i? |

Not necessarily, but with a starting price of $38k, I'd say it's close to the ballpark...so, a loaded SHO might be a bit over $41k (may not be too many options).

The interior looks great, I can't say the same for the exterior. In '97 I bought a used '95 SHO. It was the first car I've ever had that I got a loan on and spent more than 2k on. I miss that baby, she was a great car, one of the first few sport sedans.

Couldn't they have chosen a different gear lever design?

Interesting car... The drivetrain sounds pretty impressive, but the exterior and interior are still awful like almost every other Ford...I guess they are addressing one thing at a time

My '04 F150 looked great and never had a single problem. Same goes for my '95 SHO.

I bet many people said this about the Cadillac CTS-V before too.......yet it would spank not only a 335i but also an M3. Around the Nurburgring.

Sorry, apples-oranges comparison; the CTS-V has always has the 'Vette engine, and now it has a detuned version of the S/C'd 'Vette ZR-1 engine. This is not exactly the same as the Ford Taurus SHO.

Take a look at Ford of Europe for handling, pretty sure they have some good people there. This is one of the first things that Mulally has had a hand in along with the face lifted Mustang. Completely new designs under his leadership are still a couple of years away. Out of all the domestic manufacturers I’m most behind Ford for trying to get their act together on their own instead of asking for handouts just to survive.
This is more of a Pontiac G8 and Charger competitor as it’s a very large car or perhaps a cheap version of a 550 which is what $20k more so obviously not going to be compared to it. |
