So you DON'T think that GM will be around - given that the Government here just pumped 50 BILLION into a company with a Capex of less than 10 BILLION?
That's a 5:1 loss ratio there - they could have simply BOUGHT GM 5 times over ON MARKET. Don't you worry about GM being there - it's all perception now at this point, they'll be around even if their cars have the engines removed and replaced by pedals - they'll still charge 20K and they'll still be around, year after year, loss after loss. Simply put - it'd be too much of a kick to the ego for the US to NOT have it's "own" auto manufacturer - in this case - literally. If you want something cheap but still strong performance wise - look at PONTIAC - the GTO's and the G8's were VERY GOOD cars, very fast and you'll be able to get them very cheap. And don't worry about parts - they're not made BY pontiac (like I said - they were GOOD cars - so that'd be a redundant statement!) - they're made in the land down under by Holden - where the "GTO" and "G8" are the Commodore, the largest selling Holden - there's parts for this till the cows come home. I do like the Evo though aswell - STi just got fatter, uglier and slower as the years rolled on however.... |

the new camaro is pretty neat, the 2010 mustang is neat too, but still has that solid axle
I just cant get into the generic sedans from japan/europe they are just too bland, or the other extreme, boy racer

If you want something nice, fast, and comfortable for very reasonable money, find a nice low mileage GTO, and enjoy absolutely blowing the doors off of everything else in the price range. You can pick them up dirt cheap. They've got 400Hp, IRS, and a quality interior. It's one of the best long range cruisers built and with the right aftermarket touch the exhaust note is like the voice of angles....big burly ones singing pirate songs.
The mileage isn't great around town, but it's decent on the highway (just a touch less than a 335i) and you're going to have plenty of money left in your pocket to cover the fuel expenses. The small trunk and lack of available tech goodies (bluetooth and nav and such) are the only real downsides to the car. |

Hyundai Genesis Coupe - RWD, great chassis, great reviews, reliable and 10-year warranty, very low maintenance
http://motormouths.com/car/hyundai/genesis-coupe Sounds like the perfect car for what you described.

The '09's put up some pretty good #'s though, but I would wait for the '10. A Camaro SS, the Genesis coupe, and the 370z are my favorite at that price point (or even at a 35k price point, but I'd add the 135 at that point). |

I keep hearing 2008 was a turning point for VW as far as GTI/Rabbit/Golf reliability but then again let's remember that it's only been 1 or 2 years. They better not be falling apart yet.

First of all, I know virtually nothing about cars.
But yesterday, I saw this black coupe, and I was like WHAT is THAT. So I had to drive out of my way over to parking lot to look. To my surprise, It was a honda coupe. It was black and there was a gray 335 coupe parked next to it, and I hate to say the honda was the one that caught my eye!
