OP really likes the Jap cars I guess......
"Granny's car?" Please, my car's JB/coral red and I've never had anything but compliments and from the chicks that have been in my car. Congrats though, IS350 is a nice car. Different cars for different people. Though I did test drive the G, and wasn't impressed in the slightest. It's got some nice tech and a kick ass sound system though. What about the new E-Class coupe? Been advertised on TV alot lately. Not a bad looking car. Too bad MB isn't really for the sporty crowd..... |

The OP said both the IS350 and 335i are slightly faster than the G37S

Honestly the IS350 is every bit as fast as the 335i stck for stock. The G is slightly slower but still pulls sub 14 second 1/4 mile times so it ain't exactly slow.
The granny car comment really had more to do with the maple wood in our tester thn anything. my fiancee HATES wood in any car; says its for old people. I don't like wood either but that isn't the 335's only problem. The materials just don't age well in BMW's (something you realize quickly when testing used ones) and the design seems arcahic in many ways. I just like the modern tech-look of japanese ineriors as opposed to the sterile and outdated look of BMW's. Like I said, the outside is killer and the N54 is one of the best engines I've ever driven but the handling didn't blow away the Lexus at street speeds and the overwhelming luxury and value advantage of the IS were hard to ignore....

The Lexus interior is way nicer. I just hate the false sense of speed the paddle shifters were advertised to be. Hopefully the next IS will look better and offer their best engine w/a proper manual.
I went to one of the Taste of Lexus events and the OEM performance parts made the car a lot more fun to drive.

I had a 2007 GS430, now that car had a nice interior. Got is350's several times as loaner cars when that car was in for service, which was WAY TOO MUCH. I felt the is350 was a cheap feeling upper end Toyota. It didnt feel solid at all.
not meant to bash the OP, I just didnt care for it at all. I ragged the hell out of it though

Well I love my G honestly. Its a little heavy and thats the only reason its slower than the 335i and the IS350. But in every other way it is really the best one IMO. It has the luxury and high-tech modern aspect of the Lexus mixed with the performance and fun-to-drive factor of the 335i. Its reall like the perfect cross between both cars. I sure have a rough gig here choosing between the IS and the G every morning for the trip to work...

the interior in the lexus 'looks' better because of all the tech-y functions and whatnot, but the build of the interior goes to bmw for sure. i love the ventilated seats in the IS though. and i do think the is350's exterior is a bit nicer than an e90. The handling of the 335i cannot be compared with a is350...completely different levels...the IS is a pretty much a luxurious camry with a little more power that being said, the is350 is a nice car for what it is, and it definitely appeals, but lacks performance wise. nice g37s btw, the G's are really nice! |

The interior looks better and feels better. Have you sat in a IS350? The seats feels like a sofa. It is even softer than my mercedes. The 335 seats are hard and uncomfortable. I feel every bump on the freeway. IS a camry? I'm pretty sure a camry can do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.. Is it me but I don't see anything in common? Stop comparing a IS350 with a 335. They both have different target audience. This topic has been discussed 1000 of times. Some people just don't want to deal with the unreliable BMW maybe that's why a huge percentage of Lexus owners use to own German cars? |

I'll never be able to get over Lexus still putting in the red reverse and green neutral symbols by the gearbox, I'm sorry but that just looks flat out tacky to me.

Japanese cars have the illusion of more tech because they have a physical button for everything. Japanese luxury car cockpits look like spaceship cockpits. Very distracting IMO. The 335i interior looks dated, but it's very focused and you can practically access all the controls without even glancing down while driving. You definitely need to get the right trim to keep it from looking like a buick. Aluminum or grey poplar help with the looks.

yup you basically just stated why I dont like Lexus's. and yes those 2 interiors look similar to me. I dont like seats that feel like a sofa. If I wanted to sit down and fall asleep I'd do it at home, on my sofa. I want seats that are supportive, hug you, and help you drive more focused. I personally also dont like all the techno gadgets in the cars these days. I dont need, use or want them. The 2 things I do miss from my GS430 is the touch screen nav (which is the exact same as in a Camry or any Eclipse aftermarket nav) and the ventilated front seats (though the seats weigh a metric ton and really hurt performance...extra weight sucks). I found the GS430 way too lazy and boring to drive. Same went for the is350. Different strokes for different folks. take my comments with a grain of salt. I currently drive a 500hp e36 M3 w a track/school coilover suspension and leather racing seats and a GMC offroad edition pickup.....obviously cushy luxury is the least of my concerns. its funny taking girls out in my M3. It has a pretty nice interior, all black leather and I still have ipod integration, good stereo, nav, etc. But when I start driving they all kinda shrink into the seat and say "oh...this is like a race car........this is fun......hit the gas.......oh shit, stop!" LOL 500hp and 3100lbs makes for a lot of cussing and smiling If we want to be coddled, we can take my girls car.

Well the camry interior isn't a bad place to begin with so little is needed for improvement in the Lexus. Otherwise it's the same as nitpicking I would not buy an R8 because it shares the same parts bin as an A4. The Toyota cars do have a more modern interior design but if aesthetic is on top of my list I would have opted the Audi.

My first choice was a IS250 over my e90... however, after driving it, i was fairly disappointed. Granted I had never driven the is350, the 250 was miles away from reaching the e90 (325i) driving feel...
Plus, albeit the IS is a great car, i swung toward the bmw because wayyyy too many of my girlfriends were driving it. Nice g37 though! |

Nice, i test drove the IS350 and loved it. However im gonna get the 335 just because they offer a coupe. If it was IS350 or an e90 id def choose the lexus. Gotta love comfy lexus interiors and they are super reliable. I have a 1st gen is300, its got 106k on it and ive never had to do anything except change the oil.

Thats great that you're happy with the comfortness of the sofa seats, but some prefer sports seats. Yes, my best friend has a modded is350, so i sit in one often, it is very comfy, but completely different feeling compared to my 335i, which my best friend also acknowledges. The interior looks good, but the quality doesn't 'feel' as good as it looks. I never said the IS is a camry, obviously its different, but they have their similarities, and you can see the toyota touch in both the cars interiors, which look pretty damn similar. Yes, both cars appeal to different users, which i addressed, and i also said the exterior of the IS looks better than the e90 to me, and i own an e90. Why so defensive..? we are all entitled to our opinions, and i'm not bashing on the car. Its definitely a nice car for someone who is looking for a mix of luxury, sport, and reliability. |

Enough of the "IS is a Camry" stuff guys. The Camry is a front wheel drive family car that rides on a completely different platform from the rear wheel drive, sport sedan IS. The ES350 is based heavily on the Camry but the IS uses a modified GS platform that, to my knowledge is not used on ANY Toyota (at least here in the US).

How is this even a debate? The IS350 has a WAY better interior than the E90 or E92.
This is ridiculous to even discuss.
