WTF?!? so they're going to make a "green" supercar? they'll make it just like the R8--expensive, good looking and SLOW! I want a damn TT V10 in an M1! I was hoping to replace my M5 with this, but 0-60 in less than 5? what a joke! |

the M1 was a great car, and this is stupid. It is ugly, and who cares about all this going green, making cars limited, and electric, efficent. Give me a 550 hp v 10 in a rear engine all wheel drive, dual clutch, with limited slip, turbos, loud exhaust, and looks that make kids hide!
No one has made electric cars cool. Fisker Karma is close (but it is kind of ugly), tesla doesnt hold a charge... and every other hybrid car out there is so stupid fugly! BMW please, if you read this, the M1 needs to rival the turbo 911, F430, Nissan GT-R, damn even in your own company, the M3 has a fast 0-60! Give us what we want, a no holds bar, balls to the wall, bad mama jama! |

Would you please understand that the pictures are just photoshopped renderings that have nothing to do with this project. Autoexpress just said to one of their boys at office "...put up something cool for this article, here are some concept pics, sample something from these...". The data is ok, but the pictures have nothing to do with the article actually!

But under the current economical situation and rising gas prices with very harsh gas restriction on vehicles your statement is silly. (regulations are even going to be worse in 2012 you cant blame bmw for being prepared)... This new M1 rocks IMO for a production car under the current restricting situation it what else can you ask for.... 2012 if the price point is right and competition is weak...after a test drive if I'm happy... I will be trading my 1er for the M1 easy.. If I'm as happy as I em about the exterior sketch I hope I em as excited about the interior sketch.... If the price is right...

I liked BMW's original plan of creating an electric-only sub brand that would offset BMW's low mileage offerings and keep the hippies off our backs.
I don't have nearly the amount of money they are probably going to ask for this car but I would have a pretty hard time paying the premium for a car that has similar performance to an M3 with none of the creature comforts. Of course the joker in the deck is that instead of an exotic, hand built V10 this car will use an off the shelf 3 cylinder from the future 1 Series. I would imagine that cuts down significantly on development and production costs so I guess it all depends on how economically they can produce all the electric drive components. |

True, but it looks amazing. Funny how an average person can use photoshop to design cars that look better than a "professional's" design. If the M1 looked like that, i'd be saving for the next four years.

Not that surprising when you consider your typical photoshopper is only bound by his imagination, rather than reality, like actual car designers.
