If you like it then go for it. Why does it matter what others think? I think Huyndai will be the next Toyota/Honda (and they're already a reputable brand) so why not go for it? Just be sure that you've exhausted all your options and Huyndai is the one you want to go with.

Scenario: 19 and in school. A school full of all kinds of talent.

You get into a nice car that is nicer than most students will probably have. You stay w/i your means. When you meet that nice young lady you can actually reach in your pocket for some money to take her out with.

Or. Sit on this website by yourself in your room while looking out the window at your new BMW.

Give me the "chika boom do bam da chik a dam bam wam" however you spell porn music. That will be in your memory bank forever. I have been through many cars but the music files in my head are a heck of alot better to replay.

Now where are my dentures?

I'd say go with the Genesis, it looks like a nice car and you don't really see hundreds of them all over the place like our e90/e92's.

I shopped the Genesis sedan and it came out 2nd place, above the Pontiac G8 and BMW 3 sedan. If the Cadillac wasn't around I'd be in a black Hyundai Genesis sedan with two-tone interior, debadged of course .

Go look or better test drive one of these new Hyundais before making such remarks. 386hp V8 with better fit & finish than some BMWs for under $40k is nothing to scoff at.

+1. When I was 19, no way could I even afford a car half as good as the Genesis Coupe. I was driving my dad's Volvo beater car. Go for it and I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Well, I don't see why not. Performance and looks are respectable. I know people say look past the badge, but, in this case, I can't. I would debadge it IMMDEDIATELY. Otherwise good car. Check out this mid engined variant:

Go test drive it. If it pass the muster buy it, but I am on the side of the delayed gratification. You can save the 10-15k, down + plus payment, now and purchase a much nicer car with higher purchasing power later. Hyundai or not, a new car at your age is a major investment, actually major investment in any age, and it will go through a lot of abuse. You will be going everywhere with friends, chances of getting ding or hit will be high and chances of being puked in even higher.

i seriously thought of buying a Gen Coupe 3.8 Track... best bang for the buck

BUT...my car is running perfectly fine...actually better than before so I decided to keep it for a little longer

go for the 2.0 Track model. Turbo potentials+LSD

I agree with everything that's been said. True I cannot afford a bmw at this time, but in the future I will be jumping into one. This would be a big investment, but as long as i'm not going to be living beyond my means screw it.

Will probably get the R-Spec or the track model if I decide on it. I don't know if I can't live without a decent audio system in my car as mine rivals a friends Mark-Levinson system in my civic

My car at 19, not this exact one. Yes it was bronze. I did take off all the birds that were roosting all over it the day I got it.

Did me just fine.

I'd much rather buy a loaded WRX premium sedan for $26K OTD and put about $4K into engine / suspension. Very capable car.

Ouch. Good luck on the financing at your age with limited credit and only 6 months of employment.

I could not imagine a car loan at 19, that would have seriously curbed my extra curricular activities

My first car was a 1988 Volvo 240DL. Ironically, it is the most reliable car I've ever owned. My parents bought it new for something crazy like $27k (Canadian) and we still have it today and drive it daily. What a beast that car is!!

I should go buy one of these and rock it around to work as my new daily to prove a point who cares about the image?

GET OVER IT! That red one looks sick!

10 year warranty! Their image has really improved. Now if only you can find a dealership that isnt a bunch of sleaze balls.

Get the 2.0T over the v6, its lighter and has much higher potential and aftermarket support. The engine is similar to the one in the EVO 10 and has proved to hold power well.

I like them seriously if i needed a brand new car i would go for the Genesis coupe for sure. Too bad its not offered in Australia.
