Something to know

There is actually a town in Germany called Sandwich, the town just celebrated it's 250th Birthday. Story has it that The Earl of Sandwich played cards and was hungry one day and asked for 2 slices of bread with something nice in the centre so he could continue playing cards.

Ever since then the town of Sandwich offers combinations of all kinds that are endless

You can read about the Earl's history here ---> Click to Open

Saw a segment of the story the other night on TV Channel DW (Deutsche Welle) quite interesting

What does that have to do with the new direction of the thread?

We are now on the topic of reviving age old threads, please stay 'on-topic' in the off topic discussion.

The thread is "best sandwich," which any one of those featured places could qualify as.

here is the sandwich you can not beat it has it all, you salad and side all in one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primanti_Brothers

This is the only place you will go during the day and it is not crowed, if you show up after Midnight the place is packed. They use to cater to the working class rail workers and truck drivers who pick their stuff up in the middle of the night to deliver them to the stores in the morning. Today you will find the Yuppy drunk crowds trying to sober up before going home.

katz's pastrami or corned beef are the best sandwiches in my book (never been to carnegies). god damn those were good!

primanti looks like a winner too, haven't had the pleasure yet.

around here, in-n-out is an icon but i'm giving the nod to the hat. their chili (and everything you can put it on) is excellent.
