Three Anchors: Steam is mainstay Porter is a meal in a bottle The Christmas Beer is great. I always look forward to it every year. I found a restaurant in Emauss, PA that has vintage Anchor Christmas Beer back to the nineties available year round. My fav summer beer is Blue Star, brewed in Mendocino county. My house in on the site of an old brewery. There's a hop barn down the hill and the next town over the hill is Hopland. I was just thinking of Boontville this morning, as the Anderson Valley also produces great apples and wine (chardonnay, champagne). After reading a few more posts I have to vote for two more: Negra Modello San Miguel Dark (Always had a great taste and a putrid aftertaste). Just found some after many years without it. I think they now treat their water differently and the aftertaste is gone. |

This is the most pointless thread and completely unrelated to M's, but I'll answer it anyway
I rarely drink beer but when I do I prefer Stella Artois, Heineken, Lowenbrau, Saporo (strongest can ever!) or a good ol' Canadian!

One of my favorites is DFH 120, but it's not legal to sell it in NC, so I rarely get to enjoy it. I don't know how anyone with a taste for good beer can drink Heineken; it's garbage.
The regulars: Dark & filling - Sam Adams Black Lager IPA - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - Magic Hat #9 The staple beer - Boston Lager Also have a couple different home brews from a friend aging in the fridge, a winter lager and an oatmeal chocolate stout. I tried the winter lager while we were bottling it and even without carbonation it was tasty; I can't wait until it's ready.

Beers
I'm more into wine, but here in Oregon we have so many great microbreweries and brewpubs, it's tough to pick a favorite. BridgePort, Hair of the Dog, Rogue, Deschutes, Widmer, Terminal Gravity....all great. The one I keep on hand is BridgePort IPA.

My top 2 beers are Orval Trappist Ale and Delirium Tremens. The Delirium is tricky though, because I get some horrible headaches from that stuff. Newcastle is my go-to beer when the selection is lacking. Duvel is a trusty beer... good primer for what a Belgian Pale Ale should taste like. |
