With the X6M being over $100K and the F10 M5 probably getting around the same power, its probably going to be over $100K as well. If not VERY close.

When someone says, Modded a 335i could take it, that strictly talking about speed, not about platform at all.

Yeah, thats right, when your talking purely on speed you could compare a turbo'ed Geo to a 335i..Thats by point so yeah, your right.

This is a constant game of tennis between Audi and BMW. The cycle will never end

I get what you're saying, but I still think your argument is a bit flawed. For a new car @ $50K there isn't a car out there that can touch a 335, in terms of performance, platform, and tuning potential. The N54 is that good.

As htoudiee said, with $2-3K you're into the sub 11's (Z06/Viper territory). You simply CANNOT do this with a Geo, Civic, etc... without spending over double, possibly triple what the car's worth period. The fact that with a few K a "3 series" BMW can keep up with cars like the RS5, Z06, etc....I think pretty much says it all.

Sure the RS5 comes stock with it's specs....but at how much more of a premium? $30K+? I'll take the $50K 335 + $3K in mods anyday, but that's me.

All I'm saying is I hate when people are comparing, lets say a Ferrari and a 335i. Someone will say, Put a JB3 on it and nitrous and It will take that Ferrari! Well no shit, you can make any car faster then another..Thats all.

That's a whole different argument there. A Ferrari, is a Ferrari

the price you would spend on a 335 and then modding it...you could easily buy a civic and put the rest towards mods and have a faster car, that handles well too. However, it won't be a Bimmer

Yes, but there are several cars that can easily be modded that are less than $50K. While they may lack the "comfort" they can easily keep up and surpass the performance of the N54 currently. STI and EVO are two such vehicles. Both of those are actually much better track performers for many reasons over our 335's. Our cars are really good straight line autobahn cruisers. They left a little to be desired for track performance though.

Truth.

I was just saying BMW and Audi are pretty close in terms of class, Honda's not even in the same league.

Just because you drive an RS5...and a "3 series" can take you, it doesn't make a modded 335 a civic

If I can get it for $44.5K out the door like I did my 335i, I'm interested. If it's $70k+ stripped, not really. For me, you have to compare cars that are in relatively the same ballpark price wise. RS5 doesn't seem to compete with a 335i.

Other than that, the M3 will be sick. Wait. Watch.

I have been waiting for this car.
I am Canadian and I have had the choice between a fully loaded M3 or chancing the hopes of an RS5 for nearly 2 years now. I'm glad I waited. This car is perfect for Canadians who want great performance year round. The M3 would have been the option if this wasn't coming out, 2 years of waiting... So happy.

I just want those seats

The RS5 really will not be comparable to the 335i. M3/M6 is more like the target car. If Audi manages to keep the weight down (unlikely) they might have a GT-R challenger. Crap, if the RS5 is a twin turbo V8 just imagine the tuning potential....

I'll be happy if it puts down M3 numbers. Just a really nice car.
I don't like the GTR much, regardless of its price. I think the cheap-ass transmission in it really ruined it. A 6 speed gearbox for a 500 HP car is unacceptable. Those things are fragile as hell. Great car for the price, but they had to cut corners somewhere.

Hopefully it's about ~100K CAD. That's the upper ceiling for how much it's worth. The M3 atm is 88, and Audi should have learned their lesson about pricing cars 20k over competitors (The RS4 was 105k here for a bit, not fully loaded) when our dollar is about-even.
