I've had somebody on another forum suggest that it looks like a Scion tC. The only vague similiarty I can see is that both have a somewhat parallelogram shaped taillight (though the tC is more square and the Supra is much more rectangular). That aside, I don't see any similiarity. Am I crazy?

Not that exciting, and you know when it hits production it'll have 17" wheels with miles of wheel gap. The worst part, is it's obvious from the Scion disappointment that Toyota dealers don't understand how to sell to the enthusiast crowd. They're used to moving refrigerators on wheels, and that's how they treat everybody that walks through the door.

I like the V6 pricing and think if they keep it a 350z competitor they might do well. The V8 pricing is outrageous and you'll never see one in a Toyota showroom. Well, depends on the hp I guess. If it's a 500hp monster, then you'll get the inevitable dealer gouge.

Not too bad. It looks like an offspring of an MKIII and an SL.

I was considering getting a new car this year (including an e90 or e92), but after I saw this I was glad I held off, and decided to wait and see if it does indeed surface next year.

Have a look at these articles (the top one being from the November Road & Track). Not that it will change my opinion any, but what do you guys think? Hot or not?

Toyota does not care about selling to an certain crowd. They are all about making money (this is a business afterall). They are great at what they do and most car compaines would do anything to be half as good as they are.

In some pictures, the new GT-R looks like a sharp car. Sometimes, I see pics of it and don't like the look of the headlights. But in the end, I don't think it's really worth comparing to the Supra, since it is expected to cost twice as much as the Supra.

To me the new supra has a little 350Z, RX-8, and the ferrari 599 lines in the back. Think about it...

You right, not really the same level, but i can't resist on sharing with you guys what a graeat car the skyline it. As some of you might know that the Australians had to raise the weight limitaion due to the skylines non-stop victory. Now that's quite unbelievable.

I'm looking forward to the new Supra. I hope they do it justice, and it sounds like they plan to.

I don't really see it as any competitor to any BMW though. It's more of a 350Z type competitor and I don't think that's the same target market as BMW.
yes, the last gen was something else... i feel the same about the last Nissan 300Z

I was let down a bit by the look of the 350z compared to the old 300. But I think the new Supra looks plenty good, just not the same as the last.

Throughout the past couple of years, major print and online auto publications have hinted at a possible revival of the Supra in 2007/2008, pointing the car in different directions. The vehicle was originally thought to be the flagship or halo model in the Toyota lineup, be powered by a high output V8, and have an estimated cost anywhere between $50,000 and $70,000. This was due to the increasing number of sighting of a high performance sports car being tested throughout Europe and, more specificly, on the Nürburgring. These vehicles turned out to be the test mules for Lexus' future Lexus LF-A.[4]

After this was discovered, it was then believed that that if a new Supra were to be released, it will be positioned to compete directly against the Nissan 350Z. It was expected to be available as a coupe and convertible, have a V6 producing around 350+ hp, and cost between $25,000 and $35,000. Throughout recent years, different publications as well as fans of the Supra have created several renditions of what a new Supra might look like if it were ever to be produced.[5]

On August 15, 2006, all rumors of a Supra being produced in the future immediately were negated. The same numerous publications that originally speculated on a future Supra all stated no new vehicle was being developed. According to *an AutoWeek article on current and upcoming Toyota vehicles, all rumors on the Supra's return are false.[6] Automotive News also claim Toyota has absolutely no plans for a Supra in the future.[7]

" All the rumors of the two-passenger sports car's return are false." - Automotive News[7]
Toyota themselves have never released any material on a future Supra and now mainstream automotive press widely agree that there are no future plans for the vehicle. Any information dealing with a future Supra is purely speculation and not sourced by Toyota or reputable automotive press.

Sorry guys, I guess ya'll didn't know this but since Toyota owns Lexus, any sports car that they make will come out in a Lexus model. The Supra ain't coming anytime soon. Toyotas making a big profit realising sensible daily drivers with the Toyota logo and high performance luxury cars with the Lexus model.
