A little off topic, what kind of morons write for that website;
"In the league of naturally aspirated muscle cars, the new Mustang GT is in a league of its own." Lol its in the same league as the "other" NA muscle cars but it is in a different league. dumbass. |

I bought a brand new 88 Mustang GT not long after I got out of the Service. Loved that car and had it over 10 years.Honestly, if the 2011 GT was out at the time I bought my DD 135i if would have been a coin toss for me. The wife likes the BMW more than the GT and I love the BMW but I like powerful V8's. Im happy with my decision but will second guess a bit. I likely will test drive one. Alot of people will put the 135 and new GT in the same category and some will buy the Mustang. Not all, but this car will take customers away from BMW. HP sells.

I came from a ~500whp 05 Mustang GT. Great car and a lot of fun, just brutally fast. I have to give Ford a lot of credit they've been building awesome cars lately, and now the car has enough grunt from the factory to really impress. Maybe a second car

The MSRP on one specced similar to my car came to almost $40k so unless they are offering great incentives (and they may be), it's not like Ford is offering a supercar for peanuts. If they had better materials on the interior at that price, it would be a very impressive achievement (assuming they have good reliability). I'm sure Ford knows who it's selling to and their #1 competition isn't BMW, it's Chevy.

Yeah they can get expensive, but I'm sure a lot of people will get a bare bones version for closer to $30k. |

I agree. I would expect the typical transaction price for an M1 to be north of $55k and the typical Mustang transaction price in the first year to be more like $36k. There will be a massive gap. Regardless of how well it stacks up against the M1, Ford has hit a massive home run with this car IMO. A N/A car running high 12 second 1/4 mile times right off the showroom floor for around $32k?! I'm sure there have been some sacrifices to keep the cost down and still be able to afford to put that powertrain in it, but it's one hell of a performance bargin. |

0 to 60 > 4.8 1/4 > 13.0 Until you actually sit in 1 and drive it yourself...everything is wishful thinking. I have previously owned a Viper..and after 1 year of driving it , I was glad to get rid of it... Looks like Ford is doing a great job overall and will give Chevy something to think about. As for BMW , well it's a BMW... looks good in front of my country club Last edited by oztiks; 03-30-2010 at 12:19 AM.. |

Please look at Motortrend's review of the 2010 mustang, they were raving about that one also. I have a feeling this car will not live up to the hype, just a feeling. When i see more unbiased reviews and maybe a test drive then I will be able to judge this car. Until then its still only a mustang.

A dealer here in the metroplex is showing $1100 off the new GT's in stock (3).
A white one lists at $38,200 and for sale at $36,100. Incoming GT500's $57,700 with every option. |

Buy one, drive it than you can discuss whatever the magazines say. It is not real world. The numbers will ultimately change. I like all fast cars and have owned soooo many makes and models including some of the fastest American cars according to magazines. Viper, vette..svo all went through my hands. I'm one that was caught up in all the magazine hype until I drove them for myself. I can't wait to test drive one , than I will give my honest opinion of what it is. For now some of you people need to understand that this is a BMW forum. |
