Hmm, this car would look at an M3 and smirk.

it's gonna eat a LOT of things for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.... I can't wait till I see some dynos and track times.

The 5.0 is claimed to get 400 at the WHEELS (*claimed*), using those numbers as a base, I'd be expecting a solid 500+ at the wheels for the gt500... yikes

That's some pretty good company up there, and damn impressive for a car with a live rear axle....

keep in mind that the 2011 GT500 still uses a live rear axle (i.e. straight line traction should be impressive to say the least, and thus so should straight line acceleration). even with less power to the rear wheels and less weight over the rear axe, an 03+ Cobra is more likely to get more wheelspin than the new GT500 (and the previous GT500 for that matter) due simply to its independent rear suspension design.

as long as certain Mustangs retain a live rear axle suspension, they're bound to have great straight line traction and acceleration, so long as their power plants are respectable...

Pure sledgehammer brute force.

Too much torque???? No such thing. My Lightning in street tune is 623whp/718wtq. Runs high 11's on street tires. High 10's on slicks.

My cars are at #15/46

My Vette has more than 180hp than stock though

Wonder why the 135 is lagging behind the 335?

Mustang looks nice and reports are good. I look forward to seing one on the street,

You need to remember that this car is still very heavy and needs the TQ, plus a lot of people who will buy will want that feel and also will drag it and that TQ will come in handy for hard launches on slicks and proper suspension.

I had an 03 Cobra and it had massive TQ down low with just the little 4.6l and it does help the car get going since it weighs almost 3700lbs stock.

Yeah I was considering a C6 GS in my recent hunt, along with the 135 and GT500....

These results surprised me a little, although I'm sure the supercar tires of the SVT performance pack have a lot to do with that; if you watch the video of the '11 GT500 lap, it was in no way the perfect lap, so the "SVT Team Driver" factor probably didn't have a whole lot to do with it, although it might have helped somewhat....

And as far as the 135 goes, what I have heard is that its smaller wheelbase can make it more twitchy than the 335. Keep in mind all these C&D drivers probably don't pump out the most consistent and perfect laps though.

Good specs if you like the sound of a supercharger. I got rid of my 03 SVT Cobra Mustang after 1 year because I couldn't stand the sound of the sc.

The S/C scream is music to my ears. The Whipple on my Lightning roars. Leaves little doubt that there is a huffer under the hood. The stock Eaton had a higher pitch whine.

I personally love the noise. A stock GT500 is not by any means loud as far as the whine goes. I've heard much louder, and it never bothered me. I like supercharger whine, but I definitely can see how people hate it. I'm just not one of those people. I can't stand the BOV noises on turbo cars, but for some reason the S/C is completely ok and welcome.

yeah. as you approach ridiculous hp/tq levels, traction becomes an issue. that's why you buy some drag radials and take the car to the strip, where is the only place to safely use all that power...
shut up. i love stangs. driving my friend's bullitt has made me a huge muscle car fan. if you read my posting history you'd know otherwise.

i've said time and again that i'm considering trading my 335i for an '11 mustang. i said that before i even knew about the 5.0.
