Dude, that's awesome. I work minutes from there. Would you mind posting your exif?
I'm guessing tiny aperture, low iso, long exposure. right?

Very nice photo
Somebody may have already mentioned it ... a lot of landscape photographers expose for the highs and lows and then combine the images in their editing software to get the dynamic range they desire in the photo. Example: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tu...blending.shtml |

That technique is used a lot in automotive photography. I guess if your really good a blending layers in Pshop its the easier way to go. The only problem is anyone with a decent eye for this stuff will be able to see the post editing work. For the first example posted on that site he could of used strobes for a much more realistic photo. |

Great pic.... maybe you could show me a thing or two. Just got myself a SLR for the first time, and still trying to figure out how to use it correctly.

1. Tripod! 2. Stop down for DOF 3. Longer exposure Bracket just for kicks to see what happens. Digital film is free BTW, Diesel did you post process this image in any way? |

Long shutter, ISO 200, yada yada. The key was getting a nice stream of headlights from the evening traffic, while still marinating the natural lighting of the falling sun. Quote:

Well it's an awesome photo. I figured it must have been HDR because the exposure is spot on (except maybe just a little darkness under the bridge).
You should print it 20x30, frame it and then sell to the La Jolla/Del Mar residents for $$$. ---- Trial and error is good advice, although I thought Rick Sammon's complete guide to digital photography was a good start. Exposure and dof control are difficult concepts to grasp without some pointers. I'm just glad I got to learn with digital. I can't imagine the cost of learning and wasted rolls I would have had using regular film!

Nikki - Are you huge Prince fan or something? Purple this, purple that.
I do like the effect though.
