Glad your son is ok. I always have a knife in my car, as well as a first aid kit, and flash light.
I also carry a beating stick, crowbar, bat, etc, just incase I have to beat some mofos.

im glad your son is ok. i used to carry around something similar to this when i used to drive an old accord. I never had to use it but it was cheap enough to buy just to keep in the car. I bought mine at either Target or Walmart for under $10.

Wow that's crazy.
Recommend me a legal knife that's legal in California.

I highly recommend a Benchmade Rescue Hook if you don't want a knife. These things cut through many things. They have plenty of variations of this model as well.

Where do you keep it? If you have it anywhere other than right by your side the entire time it will be pointless. My friend had a window punch and knife stored in the car but he had it in the glove compartment which I pointed out to him that if you are in a roll over or in the water you will not get to it at all. He then secured it all with velcro right by his left leg on the side of the seat like I do.

That is so messed up, I'm glad your kid is ok.
Last week I was in a coworker's E60 M5. The middle seatbelt in the back seat looks like a noose! It's like a big nylon loop. When I saw it the first thing I thought was is that looked like a really dangerous thing to have in the back seat of a car if you have small children... |

Seatbelts in the back seat have a mechanism that keeps them from loosening unless you unbuckle it and let it slack all the way in. Almost like the restraint on a roller coaster. If he had the belt under full tension then there would not be enough slack to unwrap it or unbuckle it. I used to mess around with them as a kid and try to make it as tight as possible across my body to the point where I could barely move and it was nearly impossible to unbuckle the belt.
