Well, I don't know about FL, but in CA, you have to pay the sales tax on the original amount.

The phone is $600 retail (or something like that), and AT&T is giving you a rebate

But you have to pay tax on the initial 600

not the after rebate price

if it's not like that in FL... then you're very lucky

So that's why, when I got my 3GS last year, i paid 255 or so

and our tax is 9.75 where I live... drive down south and it goes up to 10.25...

Holy crap...I did not know that. Paying tax on full retail? That sucks so hard If you buy it online from Apple or AT&T and have it shipped, do you still have to pay the sales tax?

I have one, really like it and would upgrade but just got the 3Gs last summer when my 1st gen iPhone crapped out. ATT around here is as good if not better than the other companies. I am pretty sure my work BB is on verison and I get more reliable service from my iPhone.

A lot of states, when buying online you don't pay any tax at all.

Plus it usually calculates tax based on where you live, not where it ships from. Who told you that?

I think he meant to say that in his state, he must pay sales tax if the seller is in the same state.
