I have one, it's worth the premium just for the novelty of throwing crap through it...

(paper wads, ping pong balls, etc)

It's not a 'bladeless' fan; it has an INTERNAL blade, rather than external. And a pretty noisy one, as noted.

Maybe in the UK where average summer temps top out at a sweltering 60-70F.... Tell that to the people here in the midwest/south with 95F+ and 70% humidity. Replace air conditioning. Right.

The Dyson guy "the fan blade design hasn't changed since ever, fan blades cuts the air and create buffeting...how annoying!"

Me "I turn on the AC and could care less about fan buffeting"....

I have this $50 fan I bought many years ago, and you can not hear the motor at all, grant it you can get the air movement noise a little bit. If you remove the blades you can not even tell the motors is running. It is all metal construction, no cheap plastic stuff, it move far more air than Dyson thing. It is ugly, but it gets the job done and did not cost $300.

When I saw this I was curious about it so I saw one in Bed bath and beyond, and they had them set right up next to other fans, what I notice was the Dyson was making all kind of humming sound coming from the motor inside, then I notice the fans around it were moving a lot more air. Of course you could hear and feel the buffing that Dyson is trying to sell, but the Dyson is only affective at moving air with in a few feet of it.

Also, the reason the motor makes so much noise is because it is under too much load, pulling in air and trying to force it through the veins in the top half is putting too much back pressure on the fan blades in the base.

I am tell this has no value, he created a product to fix air buffeting, which the last time I check is not a problem and he charging idiots $300 for that.

His Vacuums are not worth the money either, you can find vacuums for far less money that clean just as well. Hell my $100 shop vac suck so hard it lifts the rugs from the carpet padding. I never seen any of his vacs do that.
