i'm a strong believer that if you have the willpower you can do anything and everything you want...whether it be to kick an addiction, lose weight, succeed in life in general, etc.

Used to smoke half a pack a day at my height. I go through maybe 1-3 packs a month now, mostly from weekends. At my height, I once quit for about 3 months because my friend called me out on saying I could quit cold turkey. I still had nearly a carton left, but I quit cold turkey the next day. I think actually having those packs available made me choose not to smoke. I had a pack in my office, a backup pack in my car, and the rest of my supply at home. I had a few cravings the first few days but wasn't too hard to ignore. Afterwards, just knowing I could take the easy way out at any moments time, gave me the mental fortitude to not smoke. Hardest part is socially when everyone is out having a drink and lighting one up. Those were the only times I'd really crave one. I started smoking again for TAO last year but have cut back a lot compared to my peak. Don't feel like I'm quite as addicted anymore. Well, I never really felt too addicted; always thought I could quit when I wanted. Hope I do feel like quiting some time in the near future. Don't feel ready to give it up completely. I just don't want to make that step yet. |

Smoked for over a decade then quit cold turkey. Have been clean for over 8 years now.
Toughest was the first two week, it gets much easier after that. But if everyone in your social circle smokes, then you're doomed. Try to find someone to quit together with you. I had a close friend of mine quit at the same time. I truely believe that's what got me over the hump. |

Started smoking in 08 while deployed to Iraq after never smoking a cigarette in my life.
Was definitely one of the "I can quit anytime I want" addicts after getting home. Realized it was a huge issue when I started smoking in my car that I would never have allowed a cigarette within 50ft of beforehand. Now I never smoke on my own but am very easily peer pressured

Bad support system.
I promise you, if you start weight lighting and dieting hard. It will help so much. You will lose the crave and the idea of it. Plus, think how shredded you will look. It works for me. Im not even a heavy smoker, just a social one.

the habit of actually smoking(hand to mouth and puffing) is just as bad as the nicotine, so just acting like you smoke helps...some people cant drive the same or go through the day the same because they are so used to making the hand movements and exhaling....or you can buy one of those electronic cigs that has nicotine in it
