From my experience jeans that costs $150+ typically need to be hemmed. Also what someone said about 7's not lasting is true. They rip/fade easily, but I find them to be the most comfortable out of 7's, True religion, Rock and Republic, Diesel. William Rast is on par for comfort but the design sucks IMO

i just got the jeans in today and love them. they are more comfy than my ae jeans with 2% spandex mixed in which i thought was amazingly comftorable.

when i bring to nordstorm to get tailored, what do i tell the guy? i just want a 30 length and if they match the hem? how long does it take?

also after tailoring, do the jeans still retain that border at the bottom of the jeans?

at the price the jeans are, i better hope they not rip. im still rocking some figure and levi jeans from like 5 years ago and they still in great shape .

i've never gotten my jeans tailored at nordstrom but im sure they would like any place, make you try on the jean then measure from there. you would want to tell them that you want the original hem (the bottom border that you're talking about).

as for a time frame, turnaround should be a few days i presume.

a good tailor would cut the jeans right above the hem, make necessary cuts and re-attach the original hem...this retains the properties of the bottom of the jeans(i.e. distress on the fold, spacing on the thread etc) therefore the jeans do not look like they've been tailored.

I'm in for comfort but not as comfy as Hudsons or Citizens

so i just dropped off my pants today. does the tailor not ask for what length you want? all he did was make me wear the pants and made 2 marks near my calf area and that was it; gave me my reciept and pick up time. cost $22 w/ original hemm.

thoughts on express brand clothing (jeans)?
Nordstroms does it for free if it's not on sale or something. Not Original Hem though.

hahahaha.. You didn't say anything while he was marking your pants? I mean that is normally the opportunity for you to explain the way you like your jeans to be.

And I used to wear TR, 7's and RnR. Now the only jeans I buy are RnR. I like the way they look on me and they fit and feel great.

you got me nervous so i called the guy. he a tall italian guy, real nice chill dude too.

the original length of pants was 33 and i wear a 30. he told me he measured 30.5 so i guess he was spot on from his not even 2 sec marking haha. i told him 30.25 is good cause i don't want it to be touching the floor.

thanks guys.

NOo!!! call him back! You don't want them too short! if they are touching the floor then let him work on them again. You can always cut more.. but you can't add more! Be careful! I have a pair of limited edition jeans on my closet that I have worn once because I did EXACTLY what you just did. They are now way too short and there is nothing I can do about it. It sucks.

You don't know what you're talking about. Express jeans are the best value on the market. If you play your cards right with their coupons and special offers, you can land a pair for $30.

Oh sweet!! You're so right. Next time I'm looking for bargain clothes I'll stop at express, after walmart and target.

*edit*. I once upon a time shopped at express. 5+ years ago they made some decent quality stuff and actually cost money. Now a days its nothing but mass crap. The quality sucks.

Who gives a fuck about value? A persons clothes say a lot about them. You're express jeans say "I never made it out of the mall, along with 75,000 other high school students".

As for getting jeans hemmed, dont bring them to Nordstroms unless you purchase them from there. Any good dry cleaner can hem jeans. I pay $12 at the shop down the street. It only takes a couple seconds and a couple pins/marks at the bottom. Usually they'll ask you if you want them longer/shorter and how you like to wear them.

You guys need to look on Yelp for a good tailor. Nordstroms is great but highly overpriced unless you bought your jeans from there (free).

I'm not a huge fan of 7's. I do like R&R, TR, Nudie and Diesel. R&R are probably the most comfortable jeans I own. Express jeans are ok. But a new favorite of mine are Guess. They make some pretty nice jeans for a lot cheaper than you pay at Nordstrom. I have a pair of Guess jeans that cost me $100 and they are sooo close to my $300 pair of TR jeans.
