Kent in north of Troy, and in BFE. Probably an 1-1.5 hour drive

Look into Opelika, only close city that is decent size. But I will warn you, Opelika is full of hood ass people, and lots of drugs. Auburn is where I would look into for a house.

I'm in Knoxville but grew up south of Auburn, but Auburn night life is pretty lame unless you go to school there. They dont even have a club on campus, just bars.

The city is pretty much nothing but the college, Im sure you can find some bars outside of the college but not anything great.
