Can't believe all the negative comments made about the cops shooting skills. He rapid fired his .40 onto the target and got more than half of the shots on the vehicle. Most of you would probably piss your pants after someone point a. 42 to your head and missed, not to mention being able to get 9 shots onto the target afterwards.
At the end of the day, the officer got home safely and the bad guy got a bullet thru his back and died. Not bad for a rookie cop if you ask me. Last edited by jpsum; 04-24-2011 at 11:50 AM.. |

I think he did a pretty good job shooting...but he still only has a 7% shooting accuracy, and I counted 15 shots, so you do the math

It's one thing to stand at a shooting range and put rounds on a paper target at 7 yards.
It's a completely different ballgame when: 1) You have just been shot at unexpectedly; 2) You are shooting blind through the back of a car window at night with unbelievable amounts of adrenaline surging through your body; 3) You are shooting at a moving target; 4) You are shooting at a moving target with MULTIPLE barriers between you and the target (i.e., a window, two car seats). I think that pretty much ends the discussion regarding the cop's "accuracy." 1/14 doesn't matter when you are in a gunfight to save your life. If one round is able to get the job done and you're still standing, you're 1/1 as far as I'm concerned.

Sorinel.......do die won't you.
Cop is a freakin boss as far as im concerned...dodged an effing bulllet,....then as the guy speeds away he pulls out his pistol and fires off a bunch of rounds at a moving car and kills the guy? Couldn't have scripted that better. And you have to consider you really don't know whether a bunch of bullets would have hit the guy were it not for all of the crap they flew through because of the car--some must have ricocheted off the metal and whatnot. |

sorinel have you ever tried shooting a gun 14 times fast? Even trained military individuals would have a hard time hitting a stationary target with all 14. Add in adrenaline, a moving target that is getting smaller as it drives away and even landing that 1 shot was amazing.

Nah.. he's a cop. So, while there's a pretty good chance he doesn't shoot that often (only slightly better chance than the rest of us working civilians) and this wasn't smacking steels with your buddies, yeah... can't believe he got away alive (#1 goal), did his job (#2 goal) and put down that creep (should be a goal).
Way to go cop. Guy below is on point.... Quote:

1st: Even though they are highly trained, they can't train for this? I have family in the police force and for "training purposes," they don't march you out to the streets and have people shoot at you to hone your skills. You people say that they are trained for this are fucking morons. 2nd: Just because only 1 hit, there could have been others on-target but got deflected or didn't penetrate. Did the news show the bullet spread on a paper target? So you people are fucking morons too. 3rd: I like the picture of the runner shitting his pants. You're right, most of us would have if placed in that situation. However the cop did not, he reacted (FULL OF Adrenaline/Noradrenaline/Cortisol from the Fight or Flight response. A response that has a "no-mind." It is a hyper-reaction. You can't train this response.) This cop reacted instantaneously into an offensive defense. BRAVO!!! 4th: Ever watch video from war correspondents? WOW, I guess our military sucks and need to be re-trained too. Unless they're "one shot one kill" snipers. They certain fire a lot of rounds. And they are lining up their shots. Our military personnel are the BEST IN THE WORLD!!! It's all about getting rounds down range PERIOD. That is what this cop did!!! 5th: And I get the fact that most of us have been hassled or ticketed over bullshit by cops (I got a ticket for no front plate), but this cop deserves our support. Save your petty bullshit for another thread. Sorry had to rant, miiipilot

The bullets would go right through the doors/seats. There's a reason when cops pull you over they angle their cars to the left. If they need to take cover, they're going to use the engine as the cover and not a door made out of cheap sheet metal.

some police interceptors are equipped with bullet proofed doors. It's a ford option. Also, they offset their cruisers to create a safety zone from traffic. Steering wheel turned to one side just in case if they get hit from behind. Last edited by jpsum; 04-24-2011 at 09:43 PM.. |
